My take on Canes football

Those were grown men on UGA and Bama yesterday. We don't have that yet.

We never will with Felder in charge.

Should’ve gotten Pat Ivey.

Give me the Marshall S&C coach. He use to work as a long time assistant under UGA current S&C coach.
Give me Wisconsin top assistant. Even when Paul Chryst was at Pitt those Pitt teams back in 2013, 2014 were so physical. I think Connor ran for like 1400 yards after switching from DE.
Give me Boston College's S&C. BC is always physically. Their dude for some reason physically look like Alabama players.

I see a bunch of staff bashing and people fusing it with how well UGA is doing. First thing first, Kirby didn't do anything Mark Richt didn't do at UGA. If there was a playoff earlier Richt would have had teams in there to play for it all. Next if this was still the BCS it probably would have been OU v Clemson for the title, which means Smart wpuld have had same season Richt had a few times where they missed out. My point is get off this Mark Richt can't coach and had a ceiling at UGA, i think its tired and bull.

As for our team, we are all mad about losing 3 in a row to end the season. But when you get to the business end and playing with the big guys, your flaws are exposed. I don't have any excuses for anyone but i know we have serious deficiencies in key positions. OL and QB mainly.

I also know Richt may seem like a soft spoken person but he didn't come here tp repeat what he did at UGA and these transfers are telling to me that they are letting the players know this $h!t ain't good enough. See he almost body slammed the **** ref. I expect more underachievers to hit the road and clear the way for more savages. Football is what have you done for me lately and we have lost 3 in a row but we will be better. I believe in these guys.

Said it in another thread. In 15 years Richt only finished in the top 4 twice heading into the postseason (2002, 2007) which he would needed to have been ranked to make the playoffs if the playoffs started in say, 2000.

Richt would not have gotten to the National championship in 2002. Georgia finished 4th in 2002. You know who they would of have had to play in the semi-finals in 2002? You Guessed it, The Number 1 Ranked 2002 Miami Hurricanes!! Are you ready to say Richt was a good enough coach to beat that Miami team? I'm going to assume your answer is no. So, he wouldn't have gotten to the National championship in 2002. His only realistic chance to make the playoffs and title game in his 15 years there was 2007 because that year was just a complete cluster f***.

Quick question.. we love to talk about the 2002 Georgia team.. since we say Kirby is only doing it because of Richt's players then does that mean Richt was doing what he did in 2002 because of Jim Donnan's players?

I love Richt but lets not pretend like even with a playoff system he would have been in the playoffs almost every other year.

Not the same situation if you compare Year 2 Richt great season with Year 2 Kirby great season.
Richt had 8 seniors total on that 2002 team (I don't know who started).
Kirby has 13 seniors starting for UGA right now. In addition, they have zero first or second year players starting on their defense right now. All JR/SR's.

Those “men” on UGA are 90% Richt’s recruits. Richt has only had two recruiting cycles. It will take at least 3 years for ANY coach to reverse the culture and to turnover the roster that’s Golden created. My goodness, everyone around the program can tell the light years that Richt has brought Miami from the last football regime. Let the man coach.

There is no way that Miami would have won 10 games and played in the ACCCG with Golden by now. D’Onfrio would have ruined Joe Jackson, Jaquan, RJ, Shaq, and Pink like he ruined Chickilo.

There still needs to be mote attrition that has to happen.

There is no doubt that Rosier severely held Richt’s play calling from being explosive. ****, the guy couldn’t complete a pass over 10 yards! And still, Richt won 10 games, beat FSU, and played in the ACCCG with a type of QB that will never be recruited to play at Miami while Richt is here.

And Kaaya ruined his playcalling in '16? Maybe he should recruit some real qbs?

He has. Richt has recruited and signed Perry and Jarren Williams. Golden recruited and signed Kaaya and Rosier. Richt inherited them.

We are preseason #4 on fox sports way to early 2018 top 25 poll today.

Seems we are getting a lot of deference. No evidence our major flaws will be corrected or even mitigated. yet.
I'm certain this team will be better. We will be far more effective running the ball. And Rosier will either dramatically improve or Perry will be the starter. I also expect to have a more talented OL, even if less experience. More vicious and aggressive for sure.

We need a Fullback and a power TE so we can just line up and smash these teams like UVA and Syracuse that hung with us this year. There’s only a few teams on the schedule that we couldn’t rely totally on this.

It's been said before, but I think a next significant step this team needs to make is just that....when we stop letting run of the mill mediocre ACC teams like UVA, Syracuse, GT, UNC and Pitt consistently hang in games with us and sometimes win, that's when you'll know we've turned that "physical" corner, especially up front. I for one am sick of all the whining about "playcalling," when it's so clear that the core issue here is that we can't push anyone around....especially on offense, but to some extent on defense too. The "playcalling" argument these people constantly make implies that they truly believe that this team would be undefeated and in the playoff, if only we'd run more pre-snap motion and jet sweeps. I mean, come on, get real. Of course plays that don't work can be criticized. As fans, this is very easy to do....but that is not the reason why we aren't in the playoff.

Richt himself said it all season long, even before any of the losses, that the team was not in a position to be able to impose its will on anyone. I'm pretty confident that he knows what a team like that looks like, and that he is trying his best to build one of them here.

I wish I could share your optimism, but this just seems entirely arbitrary. Why 3 years? When Urban Meyer took over a crappy 5-6 Utah team they immediately went 10-2 and then 12-0. But we need 3 years?

Our trench play on both sides of the ball is sorely lacking and if anything could get worse on the defensive side of the ball depending on Norton and McIntosh's decisions. Is that Richt's fault? Partly. He acknowledged we were undersized two years ago when he first got the job and yet here we are still woefully undersized.

It's cool to notice that you can't impose your will but it is irrelevant if you aren't doing a good enough job to fix it and right now, on the defensive side for sure and the OL to an extent, Richt and Co. aren't

We didn't look much better vs Clemson under MR,as we did under AG ,that being said you don't have to have elite players at every position to compete .We did not look good our last 3 games, it was not all on the players we got out coached in a couple of those games.True we do need to get better players and we are headed in the right direction as a program but MR and staff have to improve as coaches as well ,I only coach pop warnner but rule #1 in coaching you dont blame or complain about your players ,you play the hand your delt, you don't need all the Aces to win the game!

Luv &#1 28217;_&#1 28215; hate state!

We went 10-3 in Richt's second year. So I think we are far ahead of where most thought we would be and tracking Meyer's success you quoted at Utah.

Wasn't Miami 1 win away from being in the CFP this year? Weren't Auburn & Wisconsin also 1 win away?

There was a team that was "1 win away" from being in the National Championship every year. Getting close and getting it done are 2 different things.

If Kirby wins a NC by beating Auburn, Oklahoma, and Alabama in consecutive games - even Mark Richt's wife will say firing him & hiring Kirby was a good idea.

No he is not. He was let go once the fraud was uncovered. The school was so bamboozled they gave him this role bc he was seen as a SJW and it was damage control.

He is like the Assistant Womens SC coach at Arky St:

The same Pat Ivey that lead the fake racism riot that almost ruined the Univeristy of Missouri. The team threatened to not play and he was one of the leaders of the cause that was a fraud. The school shut down a whole dorm the next year bc enrollment went down bc of the whole fake fiasco. What’s he doing now?

He’s Vice Chancellor there.

In 2003, Utah went 10-2 with only one win vs a top 25 team. In 2004, Utah went 12-0 with only one win vs top 25 team (# 20 Pitt in Fiesta Bowl). Meyer took over UF in 2005, finished #16 in coaches poll and #12 in AP. UF finished third in SEC East. Also, Meyer had way better talent left for him from the previous staff than Richt had from Golden.

I think the Diaz slurpers might be right. I mean why should we fans be paranoid? After all we had such brilliant minds as DCs such as Dorito, John Lovett, Tim Walton and Randy Shannon?

After such brilliant X and O guys on D why should we ever think it isn’t the coaches fault rather it’s just the talent?

We have serious LOS issues again next year, no TE,DB problems and our qb situation is a either a might be ready or a failed senior. Oh yeah I forgot to mention our first game is a Nationally televised Kickoff Classic in Dallas against LSU. #4 in the country??? really?? For how long 3 hours?
