Very good first effort. He needs to slow down but that's pretty normal. I still talk fast and was way faster when I started. I like that it's short and the picture format is good. He is comfortable speaking.
Everybody is different, but my advice would be:
- Keep it short and focus on the best/most unique stuff. The general stuff doesn't add as much. Some people like longer podcasts but I have a short attention span (my last one was 11 minutes).
- Try to find a way to differentiate it. Whether it's a statistical approach, a way to use video/photos, or just a tone. The trivia is a good thought but I would go with something more unique to him and his interests/style. If he wants to do trivia, it should be a question more unusual and entertaining.
- Music helps. If he can find a friend to lend him a theme song (plenty of college kids who make music), that's probably the best way.
- Bring more energy. It will improve his sound and come across better to the listener.
- Just keep getting reps and trying new things.
Overall, he is off to a good start and should definitely keep with it.
