My Keys to Winning vs. A&M…

This. App State won but they did it in the least likely way possible. It’s like trying to get blackjack with nothing but low cards. Yeah, you can just keep hitting but the odds are really low.

People want to control the clock but I don’t think they know exactly how challenging it is to actually score gaining 4 yards at a time. You need some kind of explosion plays.

A&M looks terrible on offense so we likely won’t need to score a ton but we also have a habit of making every quarterback we play look way better than he is. If that bum throws for 250 and three touchdowns, I’ll be mad but not surprised

FANTASTIC analogy with the blackjack comment. Perfectly said.

Not to sound ****y or anything but I'm expecting a W on Saturday night. Texas A&M just loss to App. State AT HOME. The same App. State that loss to UNC at home and allowed over 60+ points to be put on the board against them. The divide in talent between Miami and App State is large, the divide is even larger when compared to Texas A&M. Yet they still loss. Texas A&M isn't world beaters by any stretch of the imagination. They'll be up and ready to go for a primetime game. They'll be trying to redeem themselves for last week but it shouldn't matter. Go in there and do what we should do.

Jimbo deserves what we're going to do to him on Saturday night.
I feel what you’re saying…. And I like the way you think, but if you think aTm ain’t gonna give us plenty of problems, you’re fooling yourself. They just got EMBARRASSED on national tv. Embarrassing loss vs a much smaller school, from a lower division. They gonna come out Saturday, fighting like ****. We better match their intensity from the first kickoff or it could be a long night.

Ivey and Flagg will start. It's a big game and they have the experience. It may take Ivey having another national tv blunder for this staff to bench him. When has it been different? Maybe then they switch Couch to the boundry? I dont think Blades has the mentality anymore to man up in single coverage. Flagg will lose the QB on a big play then you'll start seeing more 31. WB is the future at LB. But don't expect Flagg to get benched. Win 3rd downs and no TO's or stupid PF and we can win.

Throw it on first down to keep them off balance n pound they ***'s

A night game at Kyle Field with the 12th man will be insane at kick off. Canes have to control their emotions. Atm will bring the heat early. Canes cant get caught up in the hype. Get behind early with that crowd and it will be difficult to get back in. TVD and Gattis have a chance to hush the crowd with some creative play calling in the firsrt series. Smack them in the mouth. Remind them of the doubt they've been burying all week. Take the crowd out.. That's huge.

That's what tf I'm talking about. They will come out early fired up. We take that first series n score. We take the crowd out of it easy

My thoughts:

I think we've been privy to a bit of skullduggery on the part of Mario & Co. I think we've we've been deliberately been given a very watered down, very vanilla version of the offense and not the personnel that is normally going to be on the field. Why? So ATM (or wTf as they are now known), doesn't have any real film on us. Nothing concrete to prepare for. I think this is the first week we see the real offense and real team on both sides of the ball. I think this will be Mario's coming out party. Now, with ATM losing, they are on high alert and ready however of the weeks we've played, I believe they get the best version of the Canes. Hopefully, that's the case because if this Big Ten power run offense is actually what Gattis has in store. It's gonna be a long season.

App State ran the ball 52 times and limited Texas A&M to just 38 plays and 18 min of possession. Worked fine for them.
Running the ball 52 times for less than 4 yards per run, scoring 17 points, and being 100% reliant on the defense while simultaneously relying on their offense to not correct any mistakes at all is a recipe for an embarrassing loss. We would have poRsters and trolls en masse poRsting to fly the banners if we played like App St against 8&4 this weekend.

That doesn't mean that's the winning formula. It worked last weekend and to use @DTP 's brilliant blackjack strategy. It only worked because 8&4 busted out and App St got lucky and kept hitting on low cards with four 3's and a 5 making 17 which was enough to win both figuratively and literally.

unsure of what the offense will really look like this year. First 2 games were vanilla offensively with TAMU being an unveiling
of what Gatis will do this year. pretty sure it will be run heavy, but stacking the box with LB's on top of line and a safety in the box
by TAMU should make for some interesting play calling. TVD can throw darts down the field and think we will need chunk plays out of offense to win. If we score a couple of TD's quick i suspicion TAMU might throw in the towel....
on D we need to be prepared for both QB's as Jimbo is searching for answers

This is exactly what will happen. Like it or not, Steed and Flagg will play....a lot. I just don't want to see them on the field at the same time. And yes, Flagg/Steed will give up a big scramble by the QB on a few occasions but they will play a lot of the game. I had hoped that Caleb would be the clear #1 guy - I still think he eventually will - but looks like that might take time.

It's obvious how this plays out. Our first play of the game is a flea flicker for a TD. 8&4 is stunned already. Then on our 2nd drive, we hand the ball off to Parish, he runs up the middle, turns around, pitches it back to TVD for yet another flea flicker that also goes for a score.

14-0 just like that. Gattis will just call flea flickers the entire game and we win easy.

^This.

It’s not complicated.

As long as Key Smith can maintain his concentration and keep catching those bombs off the flea flicker when he’s wide open by 10 yards we should be fine.
