I have been a "fire Golden" guy for the past two seasons based on performance. This season speaks for itself thus far. It is great to be 3-0, and I'm elated every time we win. The schedule sets up very favorably for Al to start, and then gets unfavorable very quickly.
Just as the AG supporters urged his detractors to "let him have his time, let the season play out" before it began, I would urge them to heed their own advice now. We haven't beaten any great teams and the only legitimate team we did beat was as close as can be to stealing a win from us, at home no less. Cincy is another semi-legitimate team (I thought they were much better than they have been so far, that's why the downgrade to semi-legitimate) but they are a Thursday night road matchup which is never easy.
As you say, if we are 7-0 to start this season then I will need to see a therapist. I will need one because I will be in a manic happiness after watching the Canes finally rise up and beat FSU and take control of the ACC the way we should have done years ago.
I have no problem with Al. I think he is a great "face" of the program and he represents us well. My problem has always been with his coaching. ANY true Cane would much rather see Al succeed than fail, because we all want to see wins. Our problem with him has been a lack of wins and progress. If he coaches us to a 7-0 record this year, then my problem with him will have vanished. I will gladly admit I was wrong about him and enjoy the ride that watching my Canes win again will bring.
I would much rather deal with the "wrath" of people saying I was wrong about Al then I would enjoy watching another year of this program being mired in mediocrity. The series record between us and FSU for most consecutive wins is 7. We are currently at 5. I sure as **** don't want to see that record broken. The only way to reverse that is to finally get a win. If that happens, along with the 3 other wins against tough opponents, bring it on cause nothing will take me off my Canes high.
