Is not whether Al will be our coach in 2016 (I think it is obvious he won't), but Blake James' ability to hire a competent candidate. Blake is a marketing guy, who has never played or coached a sport, and I question his ability to identify the characteristics we need in our next head coach. The general reaction to this post: "irrelevant fear/post, we are hiring Butch and doing work." I'm not getting into that debate, but any coaching process should be done by a committee that includes football minded individuals (e.g. Jimmy Johnson), otherwise we will end up with another bad coach.

If anyone's missed Jimmy's comments lately, he's turned into a crazy old coot. Pretty sure all the Heineken and Key Largo sun has fried his brain.

And the last time we hired a search committee didn't some goofball named Chuck **** take 25k from us to say we should hire our own defensive coordinator?

Blake is an imbecile and in over his head, and the BOT is full of "football chicks," so it is pretty terrifying to think about who we might hire. I think Blake was here under butch so maybe we'll get lucky and he'll just default to a familiar name.
 
Not that your fears should be diminished but the only place Flake will have actually handled this hire will be in the lazy writings of most of the "journalists" that cover this team.
 
The last committee included Paul Dee Bernie and Kirby.

Certain former players have donated enough money to get a seat at the table and have their opinion heard after meeting potential candidates.
 
There will be a lot of outside pressure to hire a big name especially with Adidas in the fold. No way they're putting all this money into the program without some influence on the football teams coaching search
 
Hopefully Adidas will have a say and so will the ACC. Both have to be concerned with the way this program continues to FLAT OUT SUCK!

you would have to believe that the contract from Adidas was not a blank check, it had to come with strings attached.

If Adidas gave a ***** they wouldn't have sogned us up gven the existing program, inless of course they wrre thinking Bball.

Is it the same contingent of former players who hired Larry Joe Coker? The former players aren't the best when it comes to picking coaches.
