My biggest concern is having a bye week

We were bad on both sides of the ball, but especially on offense in the first half after byes. Our three bye-week games were FIU, VT, and LT last year, and we combined for 7 total points in the first halves. 6 quarters of football, and 1 TD as time expired in the VT game.

Not sure why. Maybe Enos tried to get too fancy with the team. But I expect much better this year. This week will be fixing mistakes from FSU. Next week introducing more of the playbook.

thats cause Jarren Williams got high the entire two weeks he had off.

King is different.

Historically as in last year? Or have you researched this and can provide the data?
Road games after a bye have not been good to us. A few games of note these last few years, and even those we won, we were often losing at the half or until just before the half, due to being flat. We were at home those two games we came back and won (GT and Toledo)...

2019:

lost at UNC, lost at VT, and lost at FIU coming off byes.

2018:

Lost to BC after a bye, 27-14
Lost to Wisconsin after a month off, 35-3

2017:

Trailing Toledo 16-10 at the half after coming off a bye, won 52-30

2016:

Tied with GT 7-7 with 7 minutes left in the first half following a bye, won 35-21

2015:

Lost at Cinci following a bye, 34-23

Nope! Give Lashlee two weeks to prepare and further fine tune this offense. Same with the D. We are NOT coming out flat with the new coaches and King. We have upper classmen leadership at last in King, Roche, Bolden, Nesta, Cam, Philips. This is a huge difference.

We just had an emotional game against a hated rival. Taking the time to get right physically and mentally is crucial.

No one can convince me otherwise.

1. New and a REAL OC and QB.....
2. Not worried at all with the offense
3. Baker, needs to do his homework or Manolo better figure out HIS next move

I have a feeling Manny will be more hands on given the extra time. Clemson deserves more attention on the D side, so he should, at the very least, provide some insight as to what he sees.

Just please, leave the O to Lashlee.

Aside from the points others have made in this thread about why this year should be different (a new, talented OC, a dynamic leader at QB), I would think that the biggest reason that we should come out of this bye week much better prepared is that one of the best programs in the country and the best team in our conference the past several years is on the other side of the bye week. This isn't a situation where we come off of a dominating win against our rival and play Duke out of the bye. There shouldn't be any issue being focused, prepared and motivated to go on the road to take on the program that clearly sits atop our conference.

I echo the concern of hoping our guys continue to make good decisions and protect each other during the week with less structure. It's going to be a concern every week this season, but especially with less structure and especially with a game against Clemson where we will need all of our guys to be healthy to give ourselves the best chance to go up there and knock them off.

I’m cautiously optimistic about bye weeks this year. The kids didn’t like Enos or losing. This year we’re winning and they’re more excited about adding to the offense. Also, there’s an added X factor with 20 being around the program. They’ll be ready.

Clemson is “very beatable,” based on what, the rules of the game? The question is how will Baker prep our D to make a few stops or force a few turnovers? Baker and Co. have traditionally flopped vs. quality offenses. Well, Manny flopped even against some inferior offenses.

Oklahoma may wish to have a word with you.

Baker and company - LAST year. We're not perfect - but Clemson isn't either - and you'd know that if you'd watched their games this year.

Yes, we're supposed to lose. But there were many times when #1 Nebraska, #1's Oklahoma, #1's Notre Dame, #1 Penn State - almost a dozen times we whipped those teams - because as good as they were - we wanted it more - and we had the talent that pushed in their doo-doo.

If we lose - it was expected. Clempson has everything to lose - and not much to gain by beating us - they're already ranked #1.

Who wants it worse?

I watch many games. This is all about our Baker and our D making enough plays as Lashlee‘s O will eat. Oklahoma has no D.
