My biggest concern is having a bye week

This is a game where Ed Reed could really play a big role on the D side of the ball. The guy watches film for hours on end.

We historically have been flat coming out after a bye week before a big game. Hopefully with new staff we are prepared better than in the past. Other than that Clemson is very beatable and we will come in a double digit underdog and should use the lack of respect card.
Since time bgan what happens today is tomorrows history. If smart what happened yesterday can make tomorrow better. I have faith the coaching staff and players are smarter than last year

Road games after a bye have not been good to us. A few games of note these last few years, and even those we won, we were often losing at the half or until just before the half, due to being flat. We were at home those two games we came back and won (GT and Toledo)...

2019:

lost at UNC, lost at VT, and lost at FIU coming off byes.

2018:

Lost to BC after a bye, 27-14
Lost to Wisconsin after a month off, 35-3

2017:

Trailing Toledo 16-10 at the half after coming off a bye, won 52-30

2016:

Tied with GT 7-7 with 7 minutes left in the first half following a bye, won 35-21

2015:

Lost at Cinci following a bye, 34-23
So we lost the last 2 seasons off of byes and not historically. Thanks for the useless information.

LOL @ being scared of their qb? Y'all talking about Lawrence? the same qb that got beat out by 15.. who is our backup or did he transfer... Nesta and #2 don't give f**k about these ninjaz. Miami 41 syracuse 17

You gotta keep up, man. The argument was coming out flat after byes, win or lose. We have done so since 2015... 5 years of data, 4 of which Manny has been here. Some of you arent being objective or are just mouthbreathers.

Historically we are bad on third down
Historically we are bad in the Red Zone
Historically we give up a lot of sacks
Historically we play down to the competion
Historically we struggle to score

Maybe this year we need to stop thinking historically.

3-0 with the entire country watching every game, coming off a win vs our rival, playing the No. 1 team in the nation on primetime ABC, and you dopes think we will come out flat?
I can’t speak for everyone, but some of us did not say that, some said they hope we dont come out flat after the bye, given our recent history of doing so (5 years), much of which Diaz was here.

Yawn

3 games in and ive already noticed some difference from last season to this.

1. The team has looked focused, prepared and energetic. Last year there were times youd see them just going through the motions.

2. We have leadership on both sides of the ball for the 1st time in a long time. King is definitely the leader on offense and defensively it seems Nesta has taken those reigns. Look at him talking to Phillips after his 2nd personal foul

3. Penalties still a slight concern and need ro be corrected still but I cannot overlook the DRAMATIC improvement on 3rd downs.

4. Offensive line has been the silent MVP of this team. Manny made an excellent hire in Justice.

Listen, do i expect us to beat Clemson? No...Clemson has been a well oiled machine running now for years and have excellent coaching. I do not believe in moral victories, but if we can hang with them and avoid being blown out then I think it will instill into this team that if they play them again (ACC Championship) then they can beat them. Make no mistakes Clemson is not overlooking the Canes after what theyve seen what we're capable off offensively.

To do that though they must run the table because I dont see Notre Lame losing more than 1 game or even UNC... we must take care of business the rest of the season.

Sorry, I dont speak Mongo. To reiterate, our D making plays is what will be the difference.

Actually, it will take the whole team.

Working together like fingers on a hand. no thinking - working in concert with one another.

I’m just hopeful the defense does some serious game planning. Many times we line up similar/the same week to week. Would like to see us make it tougher on their O

Two biggest challenges for these athletes:

1.) Maintaining the bubble and COVID prevention protocol.

2.) Experiencing success and maintaining a high level of competition physically and mentally; in the weight room, on the practice field, around campus and in the classroom. Keep the grades up so they can maintain eligibility.
#1 is the greatest task this week. Especially with everything opening back up in Florida. Hopefully our guys can resist the urge to party and keep their minds on greatness. Seems like with King we have a real leader so he can keep the guys in line. Plus it helps to have E. Reed watching over us too.

STOP with this history lesson of bye week blues!!!

This is a new year, a new team, and a new mentality with new coaches and new team leaders.

They know what's at stake and they'll be ready to play.

I’m with you, but this mouthbreather claimed it didn’t exist. He was shown the door.
