My apologies to Mr. Homer

13 carries for 32 yards outside the long run. He runs hard as **** but isn't near as effective as DJ.

So he's not that good when we take away all the stuff he did really good? Amazing concept bro.....

Homer is your one cut and go back. DeeJay Dallas is a versatile hard runner that just churns through arm tackles. He's got that 95 TRK rating. I just prefer what DeeJay brings to the table. That isn't a knock on Homer. I think both are much needed in this offense. As is Lingard. Just need Richt to keep feeding the backs and keep the volume of rush attempts high so everyone gets their touches.

Homer did not look as fast as he did on the long Vtech run last year compared to last night. It has nothing to do with weight or S&C though. It's because of how he's carrying the ball. He couldn't hit the after burners protecting the ball that high. That being said, he made the right decision. He made sure he didn't fumble it out of the endzone. I think he'd have loosened up if nobody had the angle.

What i'd like to see is some more aggressiveness from Dallas to finish his runs. I'm okay with running out of bounds when you're up big. Against FSU he needs put his shoulders down to get the extra 2-3 yards. You never know when you'll break one. Especially with how poorly FSU tackles. Dallas has the size now where he should be punishing people, not running out of bounds like a WR.
Leveon Bell does it all the time.. Says the guy who has never broken a tackle. I like what he's doing and sometimes momentum takes you towards the sidelines. Fighting for 2 yards and get the ball knocked out people will complain about that. I am just saying folks will always nitpick.

I know you get it Vern. Every time a Dude gets chased down he’s put on too much weight. Every time he gets tackled one on one, he needs to put on weight.

Homer and Deejay were blowing through tacklers like they weren’t even there. So which would you prefer? Not everyone is Adrian Peterson. Homer may have housed it last year but how many other runs were after contact?

If being too heavy means seeing what we saw at the end of the game, then I take that.

LOL! Take it easy on BVern. My dude is shaking off the PTSD effects of this year’s Noles squad.

It’ll be awhile before he fully recovers especially after next week’s slaughter.

Good lord. Now we've got posters who think that a fake public apology to a player (who will never read the apology) excuses all of the CIS-poster-bashing that people have been doing for weeks, as they raved about Deejay Dallas' "vision" or told us how something was "off" with Homer this year.

Make no mistake, I want all of our backs to succeed. But the point that I correctly and consistently made was that Homer's speed and ability to hit the perimeter or to cut back and leave defenders grasping was being ill-served by the "Rosier takes the snap and sticks out the ball to a running back going straight ahead between the tackles". We have to be honest, while it is exciting to see a quick-hitting play go up the middle for 10 or more yards, that play usually succeeds for more yardage because a LB is out of position or has been sucked into the wrong spot.

So to run the same play over and over and over again is just a setup for failure, and a refusal to take advantage of your speed superiority. Miami's running game succeeds with variety, sweeps, counter plays, traps and draws, and other schemes that give our runners the chance to get up to speed without having to slam into a DL or get slowed down by a DL who has sliced into the backfield.

Homer's production last year, and the fact that he hasn't regressed at all (or forgotten how to be a good running back) are why he should be the starter and/or used IN TANDEM with Deejay Dallas. Deejay is also great, but that doesn't equate to one of those idiotic CIS "play Deejay, bench Homer" types of arguments.

I'm glad to see the extra dimension that Perry brings. As just a tiny example, watch how Perry sells the play on Homer's 56 yard run. Perry takes an exaggerated step out wide, which helps to sell the defensive line on "oh, Homer is going to go wide to the left". The OL blocks left, the DL flows left, and the entire right side of the field was open for the cut back. This play just develops fundamentally different from Rosier, standing like a statute, as he holds the ball to one side or the other for Homer to run straight ahead into the DL.

.

WOW NO WAY DUDE

I had no idea Homer would never read this thread

Thanks man

Go back and watch the tape for the UNC game. It wasn’t his momentum carrying Dallas OOB. For the record, Bell ran over people in college. The NFL is a different game.
