Must read from a Temple site.....

Temple was a school that was about to get rid of their football program if not drop down into obscurity of D1AA or D2 if not for Al Golden. That school was legitimately on the brink of extinction. Its not like it has ever had any kind of real tradition to hold on, so, really, who cares. But, to break into the top of the MAC, which, I know most of ya'll don't follow the MAC for ****, but its a pretty traditional conference that functions in its own bubble...its a microcosm of major college football the way it functions, is very impressive, couple it with doing it without a QB makes it doubly impressive. The MAC is a conference based on QB play...good teams have them, bad teams dont...very rarely is there a break from that norm...Golden was able to do it.

From the brink of extinction to real player in the MAC without a QB is impressive, despite the warts you can find on his resume. He had Temple Bowl eligible for two straight years (went to one, was passed over in his last year), and their best records since the 70's, nevermind a bum corch like Addazio taking his players and going to another bowl game and back into major college football.

He didn't come without his warts, but Golden's accomplishments at Temple shouldn't be **** on. What he did was one of the best turnarounds of a program in a long time.
 
Anyone that downplays what Golden did at Temple is a grade A ******. Who knows if he will fail at Miami. But criticizing Golden for his efforts at Temple is the height of stupidity.

Those Temple fans knew the real deal with golden.

am grateful for what Coach Golden did, however, I fear that he is making a big mistake, I don't think that he will understand the University of Miami's culture and the Florida recruitment circuit. However, I wish him luck. As far as Mark D'Onofrio, I think that he would be a good fit. He understands the system and probably knows the player that Temple can recruit.

So Golden goes 9-3 @ Temple while playing the 112th ranked schedule. After his 9-3 season he gets an extension without beating a winning team in the conference.

I'll admit, he's made more money doing basically nothing than anyone in football, ever.
