Mullen

He may not have a better O ever again at UF but that wouldn’t/won’t be as big of a necessity (to be THAT potent) if we address the D.

I wouldn’t mind him staying but I wouldn’t think the sky is falling if he left. We all know any coach would jump to the NFL if the right situation came along so this “to the NFL” thing doesn’t bother me. My thing is, if you wanna go, go all in and go to the NFL. If not, come out and say that. Dont try and leverage this for a contract extension because the way this is playing out will kill recruiting (a thing that they struggle with on an ELITE level already). Not saying Florida is some prestigious job that if he left we’ll replace him with whoever we want, but he isn’t IRREPLACEABLE like some fans on Gator Twitter are acting like
It’s a huge job guy. They would be able to hire a number of highly qualified coaches.

I can't see grown men respecting Mullet. I think he'd be a massive failure similar to Spurrier.

At least those grown men respected Spurrier, Spurrier's problem is that he's the laziest successful coach in history, he's the kind of guy that hates to grind and that's what ALL the successful NFL coaches do 24/7/365. Spurrier cared more about golfing and whatnot than actual coaching, and honestly, that's why his career will always be a what if. What if Spurrier was a grinder like Jimmy? Spurrier might have had 4-5 national titles, because he was a beast on gameday.

Jets are a really bad example. Them hiring Gase was inexplicable.

The fact is getting it right on a coaching hire is extremely hard.

How many NFL teams get it right? On average, most usually miss.

Who is the next “can’t miss” in the NFL or even in college?

Tom Herman was one a few years ago. Pretty much universally considered a homerun hire. Before him, Jim Harbaugh was Michigan’s savior. Other than Urban, who else is a can’t miss? Who is the next can’t miss in college? In the NFL?

I'd say Matt Campbell as he has success at the P5 level that Herman didn't have. And has been doing more with less for a while. Having said that, I'm sure he's waiting on the NFL to scoop him up as I'm sure bigger offers have come his way than Iowa St.

His wife is bored w college kids and is yearning for NFL pole
I feel like LA would be a good "fit". Multiple NFL and collegiate teams. Instead of being the village bicycle, she'd be more like one of these things.

this was the year to really win big bc how good at the O was. that was a playoff level type O. next year will be tough with the roster losses and could end up seeing a down year with a turnaround but gonna be hard to repeat this offensive effort ever again. I think hes better off as an NFL OC than he is a college coach bc of the stuff he prefers not to do

UF will never have an issue finding top tier coaches w how big the Athletic budget is and the SEC brand. they've somehow kept missing till urban and Mullen has been fine but I think he hit the peak of what he can be in college

They are having issues getting facility upgrades just like FSU. Crazy that UM is by far the nicest now for football.

I meant the ath budget in that they're never gonna underpay a coach really. they can always compete for the brand names with how much they're willing to pay. wed never pay what they're paying mullet and frankly, we shouldn't. we don't bring in the same amount of fans weekly and don't have their booster base and aren't a large school

That’s wrong on so many levels.

The current BOT is pro football and those billionaires have more money than anyone at UF. The new regime has proved a willingness to spend. They took a bath on Enos as one of the top paid coordinators in CFB. They paid all the assistants that were fired after one year. Then paid a whole new offensive staff. Diaz has gotten exactly what he’s asked for since day one.

UM the past few years has raised money for the IPF and new dorms. This is something UF and FSU have been unable to do for several years now.

Dan Mullen- 2020 salary: $6 million
Mark Richt- 2016 salary: $4.1 million. 2020 inflation adjusted: $4.5 million
OC salary reportedly authorized by UM brass: 1.5 million

Mark Richt 4.5 million salary plus the 1.5 million allocated for an OC: $6 million

You are misinformed on how much the school would be willing to spend.

They usually struggle to get their first guy. Sometimes, they get turned down by a couple guys before they find their guy. It's a good job, but so are many others.
