Cameron at least had some NFL bona fides before he got hired.
True which makes it worse. The NFL knew this guy was a weirdo and the Dolphins were like let’s make him a head coach. Same with the Jets and Adam Gase.

It’s crazy to me how these NFL owners are so bad at hiring coaches for their teams but are great business men.

Literally every person on the planet save the owner knew Gase would fall in NY.

Watch some team in a couple of years give him another OC shot.

You all keep laughing. I hope they don’t wise up and hire Hugh Freeze. He would be perfect there - football scumbaggery and religious hypocrisy - tailor fit for that **** school and **** town.

Bro; the word was Hugh was looking for the right job; Hugh in UF would be a problem for what u just said.

Jets are a really bad example. Them hiring Gase was inexplicable.

The fact is getting it right on a coaching hire is extremely hard.

How many NFL teams get it right? On average, most usually miss.

Who is the next “can’t miss” in the NFL or even in college?

Tom Herman was one a few years ago. Pretty much universally considered a homerun hire. Before him, Jim Harbaugh was Michigan’s savior. Other than Urban, who else is a can’t miss? Who is the next can’t miss in college? In the NFL?

In CFB there's a handful. Matt Campbell from ISU is definitely one of them, whenever he decides to make the move to a bigger P5 school. Same with Hugh Freeze. They'd both be considered home runs wherever they end up going. You can probably make an argument for a few others too. Can't think of any in the NFL that are available right now.

But are they though?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Herman and Harbaugh were considered can’t miss homerun hires by most.

I think C and F are probably 2 of the best available candidates. I would hire either, but there are no guarantees.

Yeah I'd agree with you on the no guarantee for either one. Campbell is great, but he'll beat OU one week and his team will lay an egg against a 2-9 Kansas Team the next week. Freeze has done great this year but really fizzled out at Ole Miss.

Honestly, Dabo, Saban, Jimbo, and Urban are the only guys who would be guarantees. Wouldn't include Ryan Day or Lincoln Reily on this list because they inherited loaded programs (albeit they've kept it going).

The guy that intrigues me is Freeze. As long as he keeps his Bible thumping and ****y bar whoring under control. A bible in one hand and a ***** in the other kinda guy.

I think Freeze would succeed if he was able to get back in somewhere in the SEC (South Carolina, Tennessee type teams). He goes to any other conference and his team will be under NCAA sanctions within four years. If he came to Miami we'd probably get the death penalty.

Maybe. He seems destined for Tennessee. My guess.

I said this was his ceiling offense , it’s now or never

Some of them have wanted him gone bc of recruiting and keeping other coaches around.

He may not have a better O ever again at UF but that wouldn’t/won’t be as big of a necessity (to be THAT potent) if we address the D.

I wouldn’t mind him staying but I wouldn’t think the sky is falling if he left. We all know any coach would jump to the NFL if the right situation came along so this “to the NFL” thing doesn’t bother me. My thing is, if you wanna go, go all in and go to the NFL. If not, come out and say that. Dont try and leverage this for a contract extension because the way this is playing out will kill recruiting (a thing that they struggle with on an ELITE level already). Not saying Florida is some prestigious job that if he left we’ll replace him with whoever we want, but he isn’t IRREPLACEABLE like some fans on Gator Twitter are acting like
