By most media accounts, Mario Cristobal is the lmmost likely candidate for this job

The discussion at VT centers on Rich Rod and now Mullen

The FSU stuff is pure speculation...but they always seem to land the dudes we want so I'm not far off
 
About Mario... Its only the media and certain factions of hs coaches that are champion his candidacy....

From all accounts from the 'insiders' are saying that Blake wants a proven guy ....

I think the Mario appeal is dwindling daily....

He was never officially coach in waiting, but it was an unspoken thought in that program and fan base for years. I have a friend in their athletic department who says they are doing a search but they are looking very hard at Foster, but want to ensure there isn't a better fit with new blood first.
 
Mullen to VaTech would be a lateral move at best for him. I'd take him at Miami immediately, that would be a better fit for both

That's what worries me. With this admins, nothing would surprise me. Always going for the cheap hire and paying huge extensions to these bums when we have to can them. These people know NOTHING about football. Only slight hope here is that Donna isn't here to micromanage this bunch in hiring another cheap dud.

Ai least there is a CHANCE we get someone with a pulse this time. It wouldn't be if Shalala was here.

I'm not saying this won't happen given the recent hirings from the school. However, the sad part is there are some brain dead fans on here that would welcome it and see this situation as Miami making out like a bandit. Then in 4 years are wondering why we would be 0-8 against FSU and VT despite great recruiting.

I'd be very surprised if Foster gets that job. The VT AD is relatively new and wants to make a splash hire. Plus there is a lot of speculation that Foster has some personal issues.

I'm in VA and quite a few of my friends and co-workers are tech fans. From what I understand Bud Foster doesn't want the job. He is happy being an assistant. Otherwise he would have most likely moved on years ago. Also being told outside of that, the admin wants a fresh start and want no holdovers from the previous staff. Foster will most likely be looking for a job elsewhere.
