Mullen Serious Candidate for VT

I thought Bud Foster was CiW?

coach in waiting almost never work out

I'm in VA and quite a few of my friends and co-workers are tech fans. From what I understand Bud Foster doesn't want the job. He is happy being an assistant. Otherwise he would have most likely moved on years ago. Also being told outside of that, the admin wants a fresh start and want no holdovers from the previous staff. Foster will most likely be looking for a job elsewhere.

I would take that animal as DC in a nanosecond.

The same Chad Morris that is 2-9 at SMU?

Huh?

Chad Morris and what he brings to an Offense Scares me a **** of alot more that Dan Mullen...

JC
Chad Morris is going to be a very good coach. I would take him

I mean it is SMU though, but agree it's got to be a tough sell when the guy you want to hire has a career record of 2-9.

He was never officially coach in waiting, but it was an unspoken thought in that program and fan base for years. I have a friend in their athletic department who says they are doing a search but they are looking very hard at Foster, but want to ensure there isn't a better fit with new blood first.
I'd be very surprised if Foster gets that job. The VT AD is relatively new and wants to make a splash hire. Plus there is a lot of speculation that Foster has some personal issues.

Yeah, his main issue was not being able to lay off the sauce. It was so bad that they used to have handlers with him. That was that Beamer loyalty to his people. From what I was told he has been "relatively" dry for the last two years trying to clean up his behind the scenes reputation.

MSU plays 4 horrid OOC every year plus they cross with Vandy every year. His success is a bit smoke and mirrors

We're all entitled to our own opinions, so I can't really knock you for yours ...

But Mullen is coaching at Mississippi State!

That school is, without doubt, the bottom rung of the SEC West. The fact that they are at all competitive is a credit to Mullen.

And, IMO, if he was winning more than the 53% of SEC games he currently wins, we wouldn't even be able to afford Mullen.
