$3 tickets. Wonder what the turnout will be like. Probably not as good as it would have been a couple years ago, especially at these prices.

That's $2.99 too much based on the results the last couple of years.
Seriously though, this is why these guys have to be "forced out" sometimes. It's a shame his last home game is being welcomed by most fans. But, he set this in motion by staying longer than he should so it's hard for me to feel sorry for him.

He should let Mediavilla start as one last f*ck you to the fans.

We keep losing like this, Rachel Phelps will be able to move the team to Miami.

Wait...

Amditis is not a good catcher and Federman is not a starter.

Game has been cancelled in the final home game for Jim Morris. Sad to see it end like that.

Canes do take a 10-game winning streak into the ACC tourney. Let's see what kind of fight they have for their coach next week.

They probably could have gotten it in. Other than the first ten minutes of the delay they played through worse on Thursday night. On to Durham needing at least three wins to have a chance (4 of course would lock us in).

We can now finish no worse than .500

On the Amditis front, there is no rational reason to start him in Durham. He’s a downgrade defensively from Quinones, and also forces you to play Reyes in the field or leave Isaac out of the lineup.
If we get Del Castillo in the recruiting class you have to wonder if Amditis decides to transfer at that point with Quinones already ahead of him.

Agree with this, Amiditis needs to transfer, especially if Del Castilo comes in combined wth Quinones

His last home game should have been 2 years ago.

This kind of post has made this board insufferable all year.

Regardless of how you feel about the end, two things:

1. You and everyone else who just repeats the same tired mantra ad nauseum are making things miserable for everyone. It's your choice, of course, but it could be so much more enjoyable if everyone would stop with this type of post.

2. During Morris' tenure at Miami, no other team has been to the College World Series as often as his teams. It is still a record for a program to go six years consecutively to the CWS. He won 50 games in 2015 & 2016 and went to back-to-back CWS in a world far different than when Ron Fraser was doing it. He went to more CWS, with more competition, in a shorter period of time than Ron Fraser. It is truly time for people to get over themselves with all the hate for Jim Morris.

He has coasted for ten years. Yeah, we had a great run from ‘94 to ‘08. But the last decade has not been Miami baseball.

I don’t even have to rely on hindsight. We saw this crap coming. Quit acting as though we’re just angry about the last two seasons. This program has been in constant decline for a decade.

“But 2001!!!!”

More CWS in a shorter period of time? That is such a lazy narrative. When Fraser came aboard, the team didn't have uniforms or even a field, so you're right it WAS a different world, just not in the way you think. Fraser inherited nothing and turned it into a perennial powerhouse. More importantly, he knew when to step away. This is the biggest gap separating him and Morris, and the source of the fan frustration. Morris WAS a great coach, and nobody is trying to take away from his accomplishments or what he's done for this school. The criticisms are coming in because the Morris of RIGHT NOW is presiding over a team that is lucky to crack the top 10 in its own state, missed the playoffs last year for the first time in nearly a half century (and now likely in consecutive years, barring a miracle finish), and needed a huge win streak at the end of this season just to break .500.

It wasn't a record at the time and isn't a record now. Oklahoma State went to the CWS from 1981-1987. That's seven years. If you're going to do this, run a quick fact check first.

They were both great coaches in their own right, but in very different environments. While Fraser did build the program from nothing, he didn't play the competition Morris did nor was college baseball as competitive as it is now. Fraser's 70's and 80's teams played almost every day in the month of March (as well as 20 or so games vs Dade JCs in the fall) and beat up on teams from up north, Biscayne, etc. and almost all at home.

Coach Morris' early Miami years may never be repeated (and remember, he was one 2 strike, two out ninth inning 335 foot home run away from winning three titles in four years). His second half clearly leaves a lot to be desired, especially our abysmal record vs. UF. That said, I doubt there are many coaches who walk away the year or two after going to the Elite 8 in their sport two years in a row (nor are there many AD's who would force that coach out).

Both of them deserve credit and our thanks for their commitment and hard work in building the standard for success in college sports (44 consecutive years is truly amazing in the current era of D1 sports). Time will tell if naming his successor three years in advance works or not.

Lance picked a tough year for his new role. But there are a lot of knowledgeable baseball people on here with strong opinions; so, let's hope we have better performance to analyze and discuss this week and in the coming years. Go Canes.

Accurate

That ‘08 team was one of the most talented teams ever assembled in college baseball, and we didn’t even make it past the 2nd round.

That’s when I knew that Morris was done.

Sure, not many, but Fraser walked away after 3 CWS appearances in 5 years, and in his final season had the #1 seed in the CWS and was a win away from the title game.
