It's not necessarily applicable to these kids as I don't remember them saying it but you gotta love the kids that say they need to go away to school (to schools like Notre Dame) to get out of the implied crime/danger in their home cities........and then they still end up arrested and playing around with guns in Bumfuk, USA.

Lying on the 4473 is a felony punishable by 10 years in prison.

IF the gun was purchased by one of the occupants of the car, he is possibly guilty of a felony.

IF the gun was not legal, they're all guilty of a serious crime.

For the record, I am 100% in favor of free guns and weed for everyone. However, we do not live in Somalia. We have laws here.
