2027 Monshun “Showtime” Sales 5* WR from Indianapolis, IN (Lawrence North HS)

If we want this kid, we’ll have to pay a great deal ourselves lol. For the majority of these players, they will always take the best package. Indiana has one of the strongest collectives in the country, so as long as they can keep Cignetti, they’ll be here to stay.

Also, this narrative that kids take less money to go to a “perennial power” like OSU, Georgia, or Bama is a complete myth.
Maybe I wasn’t clear. I was saying that I think Indiana will have to pay more than the typically “good” teams to maintain their roster quality. They won for sure but history favors those who have stacked rosters consecutively. Much like those Clemson, UGA and Bama championship rosters. Cig has a couple solid transfer classes in the bag. If he lands a great class and duplicates last years success on the field I’ll give more credit for sure.

This might be a hot take but it is genuine. I would pass on Monshun if Brysen Wright reclassifies, which I think is likely. I think Wright is both a better player and more important to our program. Of course I would be excited about Sales as well, but if it is mutually exclusive and we can only get 1 of Sales and Wright, give me Bfye Wright all day.

It's going to be tough to outbid Indiana here

Don't think that's a hot take at all. Talk around Wright is that he is the next can't miss Florida WR ala Smith. I like Sales, but don't think he's that caliber of prospect.

Why do you think this?

I was watching the Overtime videos that follow him around. He rocks Canes gear constantly. Hangs out with Wingo a bunch. It was the St. Augustine episode. Basically Wright is from St. Aug, his dad teaches at St. Aug, all his boys are on that team. But his dad said something really smart, that his journey was different because of his talent, so he sent him to Mandarin to best prepare for the next level. I think applying that forward, it is clear he is too good for HS ball, and Brysen should get a jump on getting that NIL and getting to the NFL.

Agreed on him being special; his father’s social media comments shutting down reclassification talk has me questioning whether he will make the jump; however, could just be to avoid media & recruiting attention until it’s ready to go.

Sales is a huge talent It's a question of judging where to allocating NIL (I know we have a lot, but it's still limited, as is every school's NIL).

Slight correction because I know people say this fund allocation line all the time

IF the staff feels the player is on another tier, there’s no such thing as fund allocation. They’ll pay what it takes.

But they may think it's more important to go after a DE or DT that is "on another tier," than a WR that is.

If they think there are 15 players nationwide that are at that level, would they have the funds to pay what it takes for those 15 guys?
