So how bad are the safeties?
Disappointed Tv Land GIF by Teachers on TV Land

Jojo is clearly hurt and RayRay isn’t good. When we start hearing about true freshman like this at a position we should all know what that means.

WR is going to be very interesting this year. Going to be run heavy and use TE’s and let Beck dunk and dunk it down the field. If the defense improves…that could make this team a 10 game winner and get to Charlotte. We will see.

I feel much better there than last year. Not as bullish as CB (where I think we can be as good as anybody in the nation), but improved. Poyser and Thomas are experienced guys who look the part physically. Dylan Day and Markeith Williams are solid on the second-team and pushing.

Any potential CB get moved to safety?

That’s good news. Thanks!

Maybe I’m answering my own question..but why do I hear zero buzz about the Cincinnati transfer at WR? (Johnson) CIS poll had him penciled in as the slot starter and I forgot he was even on the team. I never hear any news about him good or bad..
First off, he wasn’t penciled in as a starter. Secondly, the media is only allowed to comment on the 30 minute warmup period at the beginning of practice. Not every player will get mentioned (good or bad)

Reposting this for emphasis. Most of the media is not allowed to watch beyond that period and I am not allowed to comment on the rest of the closed practice.

Well from what Im hearing out of camp (I can read between the lines) our receivers are “ok” nothing special, so from my take our receiving group is average, with the potential of playing a little above average. But, also from what I’m hearing our oline should be the best in the ACC, and at least top 10 in the nation, our dline should be top 2 in the conference, and one of the best in the nation. Our corners should also go from one of the worst in the conference to one of the best groups in the conference as well, Running backs won’t be “elite” but “good” from what I hear they are well above average.

What is the plan at TE? Lofton is more of an h-back, in motion type of guy. Is it’s bauman or whatever his name is as TE1 inline?

After those two where does the depth chart go? Have to assume one of the freshmen get a lot of snaps this year.

From what I’m hearing out of camp so far, our receivers are ok, nothing special, no one really making splash plays from that group. Good thing is, the corners look really good, oline and dline looks really good.

What about the DTs? I know our DEs are excellent. How does the interior DL look?

I listened to the Cover 3 ACC Win totals show yesterday, and yes of course I'm sure everyone will say this is irrelevant because Bud Elliott is a hater and hates us and thinks we're going 0-12 blah blah blah....but he had a very good point when going over his concerns for the team.

He said he speaks to multiple people at Miami, and when he asks about WR, almost all of them give him a different answer. His analogy was, when you don't have one "alpha", sometimes, you have 2019 LSU, where you have multiple absolute dudes. But that is VERY much the outlier. Normally, you have a bunch of guys that are just OK, so when you ask "sources" who's the guy, you're going to get multiple answers because nobody is jumping off the page. So that's what concerns him, is we don't have time to find our "alpha", we play ND and UiF in the first month of the season. So, do we have a group that's so good, nobody is really standing out because they're all ballers? Or do we have a somewhat average group and there isn't really anyone standing out because none of them are good enough to warrant that kind of attention?

Interesting perspective and something obviously we'll find out rather quickly. But I do believe it's concerning. I don't think this is going to be 2022 by any stretch of the imagination...even if we don't have 1 or 2 receivers really step up to become a total go-to kid, the QB is good, the line is good, the backs are very good, the offense will be good. Just how good can it be if you don't have kids you can count on in the passing game down after down? We all pretty much agree we're very likely not going to have the #1 offense in the country, and that's fine. You don't have to be #1 to win the ACC, if your defense and special teams are competent. But if we don't really have any elite receivers, at least not early on, does the offense drop enough to where we struggle to beat ND and UiF?

FWIW, 3 of the guys had us at 9-3, and Fornelli said 10-2.

9-3 doesn’t get you to Charlotte or the playoff unless 2 of the losses are UF and ND.

If Mario loses both of those games at home, I’m not sure the team and fanbase will stick together to find their way through the ACC with only 1 more loss. He has to split UF and ND in my opinion to be setup for a run at the ACC and the playoff.

I agree, can't lose more than 2 and expect to make the playoff.

No worse than 3-1 in the non-con and no worse than 7-1 in the ACC.

Anything less than that, you likely do not make Charlotte and you likely do not make the playoff, and if you don't make the playoff, the season is a failure.

Yeah he broke that down as good as it gets. Let’s hope cj Daniel’s returns to Liberty form or Lofton’s greentree legend/hype show up on Saturdays. If I had to bet I believe Elliot nailed it on the head
