Ok, I agree. I'm sure their gameplan would have been to focus on X and it would have been tough sledding for X. Having Brashard out there might change ATM's gameplan slightly since it's less clear who they should dial in on. JMO

He don’t move a needle in this matchup. I’ve said that all summer. He’s good, he would have been non existent with his play style versus that DB group though.

Saw on 247 boards that 1st team reps were split between the 3 QBs earlier this week, which they typically don’t do during game week prep.

Fanbase says OL stinks & Kimg stinks. They say King can’t hit open receivers even when no pressure, & that his mechanics are awful (I thought this as soon as I saw him throw the Int vs the FCS team the played week 1). Fanbase wants the 5star freshman, no surprise there. I remember you saying King is a baller, but I also remember you saying offense was struggling to get lined up in fall camp.

Is DL any good? Aren’t they super young and unproven? They didn’t get much pressure vs app, only 1 sack. Is there a new defensive system with Durkin?

Anything and everything you can share would be much appreciated, by many I would surmise.

From what I hear, take with a grain of salt. They’re going to be more aggressive on early downs in their intermediate and quick passing game. They want to attack 11 And get him in space early and often. They’re going to run the ball to the edge much more than the b gap in this one as they feel we contain poorly. Defensively they’re going to leave Mallory alone. Don’t believe he’s a threat whatsoever so if there’s any game to show why he’s the starter it’s this one. Their plan was to play a lot of man and bracket X in the slot leaving the outside guys 1 on 1 all night. Keyshawn can run past that matchup but he’s struggled with press so it’s iffy and I don’t know what Redding is yet. Expect a lot more blitzing of TVD with man coverage behind it. That’s all I have so far.

I think king is good too. But I expect to see Weigman in this game, their DL is phenomenal but it’s a hold up style of play instead of attacking so we can run the ball actually i believe.

To me, X and Brashard together was the key.

My gut tells me their outside CBs are too physical for our outside guys, and there won’t be enough time for slow developing routes. So, work the slots/TEs/middle of field. But woulda liked X to pull away Johnson or whatever best interior coverage guy they have, and let Brashard work over the middle.

Mallory better come to play. We need him this week.

I do. Changes everything they want to do. For example they knew TVD was rambo or nothing for a large chunk of production & that security blanket changed to x. They are willing to leave everybody else 1 on 1

You’re right. They’ll be more blitz happy because they believe that can leave everybody else on a island and we won’t win the matchups

agree, and it might help us at least consider running the passing offense through something other than the Slot as #1.

Weigman beat out Johnson in camp too. Max started with the 1’s but it was because jimbo wanted those two to chase him. They did, Haynes won out but Weigman was 1B

It's not a bad assumption (locking down outside guys 1x1) but it leaves our TEs and backs out of the backfield open to really make an impact on this game.
