Last night and the ND game our achilles heel still seeems to be mobile QB's and we will gace many otheres. I wonder if our defense has the ability to adjust and stop that threat. So far, it doesn't look like it!

I mean we sat in base defense with cushion against a high school team all night who was afraid to throw so I don’t think there is much to be taken from it in terms of defensive prowess vs mobile QBs

Yeah, the mobile QB is difficult to approach philosophically. Do you dedicate (spy) someone, or take everything else away and concede scramble yardage?

Mixing it up is the most likely scenario.

I’ll just say we can look to Minnesota’s defense last year. Off top of my head they played Michigan and Nevada who had two QBs who were really mobile.

Brendan Lewis from Nevada had 10 carries for -1 yards(only game all year he was held under 30). Orji on Michigan had 9 carries for 12 yards.

The defense was underwhelming yesterday vs a team we should have had major personnel advantages over. Yes, I know BCC's game plan was to limit the damage, but nonetheless. The loss of intensity to start the second half and giving up the short pass all night...my hope is it was a lack of focus, nothing more.

I expect that Toure or Thomas will spy. They're both underwhelming in coverage, but they have great instincts and power when coming downhill.

Of the next three QBs we'll face, only Castellanos has shown he can threaten downfield. But he's also a foot shorter and 50 pounds lighter than the other two, so I think the name of the game in Tallahassee is to have Bain, Mesidor, and the back seven enforcers beat Tommy like a rented mule.

It was 3rd and 4th stringers for most of the second half. I'm not taking away anything from that.

toure doesnt need to be a spy...that needs to go to pruitt or wes bissainthe,.

People out here acting like the defense is playing like last years. Settle down. Yes the schedule gets harder. But let’s not act like ND is a **** team.

Their QBs ran 8 times for 38 yards. 28 came on one carry against our 3 team defense. Running QBs will always make plays from time to time.

We'll be fine.
