Moar Evidence of 1 gap?? Hmmmm

"The defense is changing to a 1 gap" has become an off-season ritual under Golden's reign.

5 years. Like clockwork. It's the "we're getting green helmets" of this generation, except we actually got those.

I don't understand these threads. Why would anyone be excited or root for this change? If Golden were to make a couple changes like this and he eeks out a couple more wins, he probably stays. But the reality is that no matter what Golden changes we are never sniffing anywhere near a championship with him. Therefore he needs to go as soon as possible. You guys are getting excited about what is potentially a worst case scenario.

This. these guys are suffering from battered spouse syndrome. They're hoping he'll change, even remote signs that mean nothing are spun into the scenario that the abuser has changed. and you're absolutely right about the worst case scenario; a couple changes here or there may reap small returns, just enough to keep this incompetent around for another year.

The reality will set in soon enough. Golden is an Al Groh disciple, following his failed theories for well over a decade. He's not changing.

Makes sense... but I litereally cant take another 6 win season..I cant and dont wanna see the big picture right now...... Im just tryin to survive for tomorrow..Gimme 9 wins and I will deal with the future in the future

Exactly. IF Golden somehow lucks his way to 9 wins and an ACC championship game berth I'll deal with the larger consequences. 6 wins and that cautious patty cake defense is spirit killing. He wins 9 games and that guy is gonna get the **** out of here so fast. Perfect scenario is we have a good season, he looks like a coach on the rise again and he jumps to a big 10 school. Illinois would eat his BS right up.

This.
Golden is a 10 win guy on his best day and will never out-coach any of the other elite coaches (Saban, Myer) who can also get elite talent. Our best case scenario is he wins a little, jumps ship, we get Butch or Gary Patterson and 2016 class stays together because of wins and quality of new coach.

You guys are counting on something that MIGHT happen. If Golden goes 9-3, he'd probably keep this job and it's nowhere near certain that he'd be offered another one. In fact, I'd say the odds are low. They guy who couldn't find another job a year ago, suddenly is wanted by other schools after going 9-3 at Miami? Please. If he did even better, say 10-2 or 11-1 (yeah right), that would probably elicit offers, but then there's a chance he decides to stay because he "has things going in the right direction." It's all very uncertain in my opinion if he reaches 9+ wins.

We need him gone now. Right now. And we don't need maybe. He has to go as soon as possible. The only way to ensure that is for us to have a bad season. That's it. It's the only way. I don't want a 5 or 6 win season either, but sit back, close your eyes and imagine the headline "Golden Out at Miami." Feel the rush of overwhelming joy and excitement. You jump up, pump your fist, and let loose a primal scream. Oh, you feel that? That is hope returning. Beating fsu, an acc championship, the playoff....all real possibilities with a new coach. Remember that we have a new president and with him comes the possibility of hiring a real coach. It's all a reality if we tank this season. It's only 3 months. Like ripping off a bandaid. Log out and log back in come January if you can't handle it.

these football scientists crack me up.

If the defense changes to 1 gap and isn't good or ranked at least 14th overall, I'm blaming everyone of you mother %*{<€.

He doesn't make the changes that you guys say should be made...you whine. He makes the changes that you say he should make...you whine. You're not football fans, you're fans of whining.

1-gap, 2-gap, 3-4, 4-3 . . . it doesn't matter. Because the philosophy of Al/D'O is passive and reactive.

Really? When has he ever won 10 games so that you could accurately call him a 10 win guy? Jesus this fanbase is beyond stupid.

And @ vern. Lol man. You look ridiculous in this thread man.

This.

One-gap, two-gap, three-gap, twelve-gap. Doesn't matter.

Unless Golden has the '85 Bears, coaches like Urban Meyer are outcoaching him 10/10 times. LULZ at trying to get through the playoffs with Al.

I don't think in any previous off-season a player was asked are you going to be a 1-gap defensive front this season like Ariz asked Mike Wyche. I don't remember a player ever answering that question with a yes like Wyche did either. Ariz said that exchange happened.

Golden spent the spring making the switch and then used 80 plays in the spring game to reinforce the switch. He either decided to purposely waste an entire spring doing it or we're getting green helmets for the second year in a row.

For a stretch in about 4 games and a half it was but make no mistake that sh*t was horrible against Nebraska, Pitt, Virginia, ga tech

And then there is no certainty they get the next hire right.

All I care about is that we dial down the multiple crap. Its great to have a multiple system: we just need to choose what we want to use from that system--a limited number of things--and commit to being really good at those things. Install everything; figure out what we're good at; discard everything that we're not good at; roll into the season with only those things that we're good at; profit.
