Yep.

Mentioned here by several of us during the DC speculation.
Good coach who didn't have much to work with at Iowa State.
He is sort of the defensive version of Kevin Wilson (Indiana).
Rhodes also had many strong offensive and defensive assistants
who worked for him over the years.
 
They got a more proven coach no doubt.

Diaz is a young dude. Still lots to learn. But his energy and the fact that he is from Miami is what makes him a good hire for us. Well that and the fact that he runs arguably the most aggressive 4-3 man defense in power 5 conferences

I don't understand the disappointment with Diaz. Everyone wanted 43 and aggressive. We got the most aggressive dc

I'm not disappointed. I like the hire of Diaz. I was just wondering if Rhodes was better

Y do some of u always care bout what other teams r doing in turn complain everything we do? "They got the better hire." How do u know? Season hasn't even started. Stop worrying bout what others r doing and worry about what WE are doing.
 
And what's funnier is that some of ya'll will make great excuses when someone else is hired by another team, but let us hire that same person, ur using those same stats to trash them. Crazy!

You know Rhodes had been sitting there at Iowa State when Mullen went with Diaz instead.

A lot of them wanted Ed O. It's also the nature of fandom. Grass is always greener. There were times Alabama wanted Stoutland out. Same same with Cristobal.

We'll be more than fine with Diaz. What he wants to do is compatible with the type of kids Miami historically as access to in South Florida. They'll love the defense because it's definitely aggressive. I like Coach Kool working Diaz's defensive front. Great match.
 
Paul Rhoads was one of the guys I thought would have been an A+ hire and after Aranda, would have been my first call.

He's a really good defensive coordinator and a good overall coach. He was just in a place that you can't really win at, in Iowa State.

Not quite. We wanted a defense that could consistently stop opposing offenses. Most thought an aggressive 4-3 would be in the formula. I don't want to burn Diaz at the stake, but I don't think he is the guy to get us where we want to go.
