Misleading rushing totals

I hope that was the plan for UAB and UAB alone. I just don't know if I believe we would be that vanilla in our one warmup game, you know?

We've heard the jokes about vanilla game plans and not opening the playbook since Richt's days. So I do get the skepticism. LOL

I think we have a good track record with Lashlee and know his offenses can be prolific both throwing and running. I think he wanted to keep the offensive plan close to the vest before ACC play. I think we see a more varied offense against Louisville. My hope anyways!

I love when people post hot take stats that don’t even back up their own argument... the “other” 47 carries is a 3.35 yard avg... guess what that is? A first down. Dumb argument.

This was our second-best rushing game against FBS since 2004.

Last year, we were 112th in yards and 117th in attempts.
Which is why I believe we pounded the ball so much. Seems like Lashlee wants to get the running game going and the passing game will come.

Crazy part is I thought the OL play was very average (from watching once). We didn't get great push up front. Our athletes were just better and our scheme probably made them react a bit slower. If we gel a bit more (& pass better), look out.

i think the disadvatnage miami was in if we opened it up is that most other teams open up with conf play and we dont. wed just give away free look of an O no one has seen yet (including no spring game).

This was our first game with a new O and a new QB under extraordinary circumstances. Whether or not Lashlee wasn't showing his hand or just keeping it simple to get everyone's feet wet is up for debate. I believe it was the latter. The coaches now have some tape watch against someone other than their own to see what they need to work on.

I would expect the O to open things up a bit more next game. Louisville will no doubt be a bigger challenge than UAB.

No the dumb argument is to say a 300+ yard rushing day was a bad day for the rushing offense.

We won't have to worry about rushing for 300 a game once teams realize we can't take the top off their D.
That's ludicrous. Harley and Wiggins torched their guys on multiple occasions. Wiggins drew two PIs because they had to grab his *** to avoid getting smoked. Harley was open by six miles in the 1st half but King threw a pass that is just now leaving the Milky Way galaxy on it's way to the gamma quadrant.

Coaches might be telling King to err on the side of handing off. They might want to limit his exposure to too many hits, especially against a team we should beat. You'll notice Clemson didn't run Lawrence hardly all year and then in the playoffs he was running like crazy.

This was obviously the plan. King was visibly frustrated on a few where he probably could’ve housed them.

It wasn't just the two misses. All game long there was just no one to throw the ball to. That wasn't all on King. The plays just were not there at all in the passing game, and they should have been with the rushing game doing so well.

Here's hoping it was just first game jitters and it all gets worked out. We will need better than what I saw last night in the passing game to compete in the ACC.
Sure, except you're totally wrong. We converted 11 first downs and scored a TD on 23 official pass attempts...but yeah. Nobody was open all night. Take a nap.

Almost all of you are missing the point of this post. He’s pointing out the inconsistencies that are still there up front. Stat lines don’t tell the whole story.

Nobody cares about the guy who went 4-5 with 4 flared singles. They want the guy who went 1-5 with a bomb and 4 hard hit balls.

Also idk why you’d be happy averaging 3.5 you against a G5 team. The “do that 3 times and it’s a first down“ isnt a serious argument. Almost every decent team averages 4 ypc and they don’t score 70 a game by “doing it three times and getting first downs.”
