Misconceptions about Wake

Listen, that second half was a god**** abomination and I never want to watch it again. But I think that some of you may be under the impression that Wake Forest is a bad team and they most certainly are not. 9-4 last season with wins over SMU, Virginia, and a 1-point OT loss to GT in their HC's first year. ****ert has them going in the right direction and his staff made several solid adjustments throughout the game.

Are they world beaters? Of course not, but this was a conference road game missing 3 of our best corners and losing several other critical starters along the way. No team in football beats everyone on their schedule by 40 except the truly historic teams. These games happen, and although the second half play-calling and tackling were absolutely dog****, this film will provide some great "teaching tape" and remind our boys that they aren't unbeatable. We survived what will hopefully be our worst half of football this season. Now it's time to heal up and move onto the next one.

This is what I’m wondering.

I’m hearing a lot about Wake last year, but does that really mean anything? Need to see who they are this year. They needed OT to beat Purdue, who I think is supposed to be pretty bad, but we’ll see about them too.

Hope Wake is good.
 
To me it wasn't even about Wake. It was about the obvious signs the fan base has seen the past few years that are still happening. Dawsons horrible play calling at times, playing the older players when there are better players behind them, Missed tackles and playing down to our opponent. Yes the injuries are piling up but the coaches have to figure it out.

We won 13 games last year.

Clearly we are the same team and teams don’t change from year to year.

The Wake stuff is pure cope because many people on here are too uncomfortable facing truths and would rather use this place as an echo chamber to feel good.
 
Biggest misconception for me is I thought this would be a nice, southern college town to visit. Meh. They can’t handle a game like that and entirely more rude people than I would have ever imagined. Their turf is trash and if I hear another motorcycle revving, I may lose my mind.

There is nothing “southern college town” about Winston Salem. Was that just an assumption? Or did somebody lie to you?

I was told it would be similar to other places I’ve visited, yeah. I’m a huge fan of southern towns. It was not what I anticipated at all. I was genuinely surprised. What is its actual rep? Because we experienced a comedy of errors and chaos. We didn’t stay in Winston-Salem, though. Just Gameday there.

Gio missed a wide open guy on 4th down in the endzone.

Miami came within 3-4 plays of actually losing this game if Gio was a better QB.

He had a good night but I dont think enough people realize that if Gio really was a cheat code best night ever case, Miami loses 34-33.

I felt he played better, more complete, against Purdue.

Clean the mistakes ,change some player's (ol) lofton , lbs and we’ll be fine .

Yes, but you can clearly see they aren't a bad team. Gio Lopez is a good QB. We also have to take into consideration how many injuries we had at the end of that game. We have a safety playing CB because 3 CB's are hurt. We were down our two most senior RB's and have a 3rd in Lyle unavailable (that affects pass pro blitz pickups). Mali was hurt and limited. That all plays a factor in how the game flow went.... and we still won by 2 TD's.

Mali, Fletcher and (maybe) Mensah were hurt during game. You don't think this had an impact on the playcalling?
You don't think Wake DC and made adjustments accordingly?
