Misconceptions about Wake

I was told it would be similar to other places I’ve visited, yeah. I’m a huge fan of southern towns. It was not what I anticipated at all. I was genuinely surprised. What is its actual rep? Because we experienced a comedy of errors and chaos. We didn’t stay in Winston-Salem, though. Just Gameday there.
That it goes further downhill every year. It’s mostly ghetto now. Hotels are all **** so be glad you didn’t stay.

Outside of Atrium (the hosital) and WF itself, there are no redeeming qualities in that place. I will add people like the breweries, but that’s not something i care about.

Gio missed a wide open guy on 4th down in the endzone.

Miami came within 3-4 plays of actually losing this game if Gio was a better QB.

He had a good night but I dont think enough people realize that if Gio really was a cheat code best night ever case, Miami loses 34-33.

I felt he played better, more complete, against Purdue.

I hate when we do what if game ..
It was a reason error passes, what if Gio
wasn’t such a great athlete.. Then we would had 10 sacks , you see how that works..

Mali, Fletcher and (maybe) Mensah were hurt during game. You don't think this had an impact on the playcalling?
You don't think Wake DC and made adjustments accordingly?
1. If mensah was so hurt he cant throw, then you have to put Nickel in. Mali being hurt, is not an excuse. We have a plethora of weapons at wide receiver. Barkate was a 1k yard receiver last year. I dont agree with these excuses.

2. Yea, wake DC made adjustments. And?????? You dont think Dawson gets paid millions of dollars to adjust more than once in a game? Or you think Dawson should have a gameplan and if the DC adjusts, then were just ****ed?

To me, the 2nd half play calling is the least defensible aspect of last night. I dont buy your excuses one bit.

Wish I had asked you beforehand. We were like wtf is going on here. I’m born and raised in Miami and manage daily nastiness as part of my life. When it’s unexpected, or in this case opposite of expectations, i guess it hits different. Couldn’t wait to bounce out.

Disagree. I'm not a doomer.

Its good motivation to get your players asses in gear reviewing film. Because there's a **** ton of work to be done in all 3 phases of the game.

Getting bailed out and acknowledging it is a good thing, not a bad thing. This should be a wake up call.

They are a decent team. We played like utter trash in the second half and won by 13 on the road.

Last year’s team that was a hair short of a NC lost TWO regular season games.

The injuries are a real concern, as is the play at certain positions. No need to overreact though.

And they beat Miss State in the bowl game. Not a bad team at all.

I think the reason ppl are upset is the shut down of the offense second half.
Trust me I wasn't happy about Dawson's conservative 2H play calling either, but this isn't the first time we've seen this from him. He did it with Beck and he'll do it again. I'm just less concerned about a singular bad half of football against a decent team in what has otherwise been a strong start to the season. But our lack of depth at certain positions WILL be exposed if the injuries continue to pile up.

All fair points. Still doesn’t fix the biggest issue on the team…IOL. It’s not like SJ, Rodriguez, etc are magically going to be better all of a sudden. They are what they are.
100% the interior OL is a valid concern. I hope that Mirabal / Mario can re-tool a bit over the next few weeks and find a combination of players that works, but as of now it looks like a pretty steep decline from last season's unit.

1. Mensah took a shot in the 3rd quarter and he looked uncomfortable afterwards, at least in my body language estimation. However, he was not injured. You just don't replace him with Nickel at that point in game. Yes, we have alot of talented WRs, but Mali is the no.1 who wrecks havoc on opponents. You can't deny he doesn't make a difference. Anyways, back to Nickel, I don't think coaches think he's capable. I know, I know he lit up a high school team the prior week. This is different against Wake (and, yes, this is on coaches). You have a sizable lead at one point in 2nd half and you lost your top two RBs plus Mali and QB are dinged, it is not a far fetch strategy to let your defense win the game, which they almost didn't because, tbf, Hetherman's unit were missing their share of players. Anyways, I understand the frustration over the performance but I think there were reasons as to why we almost lost this contest. This isn't plug and play.

Wake has a tough ACC slate and well k ow how good they are. They still play Louisville, Virginia, and SMU. Hope they play well and finished ranked.

I remember attending UM vs Duke game and we booked a stay at nearby hotel. I forgot the name but area was not impressive to say the least. Alot of ACC folks take shots at the Miami area when they come down for games and at UofMaryland area when they were in the ACC, but they should be a little introspective of their back yard.

What if we don’t get a tick tack roughing the passer call that negates a fumble? Probably blow the doors open. Always goes both ways.

They won 9 games last year. They were in a dog fight with Purdue last week.
Doesn't mean much, they lost 42-7 to FSU last year then beat Virginia and SMU who are the two best teams in the ACC outside of us. Football is just weird sometimes, FSU kicked Alabama *** then could barely get a win in the ACC. Football is just weird sometimes, especially on Friday nights.
