As a casual fan not in the building, it feels like the scheme being taught is more about walling off defenders than actually moving them, which is why you rarely see holes inside with the tight splits. Walling only works in a wide split scheme that naturally has gaps. I understand the tight splits for pass pro.....especially if you are a pass heavy team like with Cam last year.....but even then, extremely tight splits limits your options.View attachment 340262
Say what you want about anything else, this is as big a problem as anything. We have been REALLY high in this metric for the last 2 years. If you’re going have the offense we do, you can’t be 44th in this. It’s why i’m hoping we lean a little more into the throw game going forward. Yeah, that didn’t work out last week too well, did it? But it’s probably your best bet for success. You paid Beck handsomely. Let’s see him earn it. I haven’t seen his pass blocking metrics, but I’ll bet they’re good. Lean into what we’re doing well.
Makes you think Mirabal is to much old school similar to Caveman. As a casual fan not in the building, it feels like the scheme being taught is more about walling off defenders than actually moving them, which is why you rarely see holes inside with the tight splits.
