Milk Carton - Markeith Williams

2 games, 0 snaps
Coach Guidry took a question at his press conference today about who would be filling in for Kam. He talked about CB's playing there and how Jaden Harris is the 'natural backup' or something- no mention of Markeith.

Sounds like he answered the question.

Markeith played vs Miami (ohio). He made a tackle too. Hes on our stats.
I saw that ESPN had him down for a tackle against M-Oh. But he was also down for 0 snaps - so either that was a tackle on special teams (possible) or it was a mistake - also possible and happens quite a bit, especially when guys are wearing different numbers on special teams.

Richards is another DB who got a lot of hype in fall camp and is only playing special teams. He was a starter at Vandy so I hope he's patient here.
Two games in. Consider the talent at the ones.Playing time is determined by Play Time. Study, watch film, grow your body and talent. Y’all will play

I’d like to give him a shot over Couch. I know Couch had a pick but he constantly gets beat and has for 5 years now.
Every corner gives up catches, every corner, especially in the nickel. It's insane how ppl who never played keep bringing up he gets beat a lot; how do you think X is making his plays? It's a hard position to play, period.

He's been getting beat for 5 years now. You are blind as **** if you haven't noticed this.

Did Guidry mention Richard as a potential guy to get some looks at safety? Thought early in camp he might lock down that other corner spot opposite D Brown and so far it's been porter couch and J Davis getting most of the reps. They haven't done too bad all in all though

It’s a valid question. Idk about “milk carton” because that insinuates he was once here and is now missing. He hasn’t really ever played. But he was a blue-chip recruit and we emptied the bench in a blowout last week and he didn’t get on the field. Then our all-America safety gets hurt and our DC makes no mention of him as a possible fill-in, meaning he’s not anywhere near a two-deep.
He’s also been listed as the backup quite a bit

But Jaden Harris has been comin, so it’s not a surprise he would be in line. D posted a while back how trusted he is by the coaches.

But agreed it’s worth noting to see how much he plays the next two weeks

The guys getting time right now - for the most part - are real veterans.

Davis, Couch, Porter, Old Man Brown, Kam, Williams...these guys have a lot of miles on the tires.

Nice place to be...the younger players have to earn time by showing out on the field.

Dumbazz; corners get beat all the time. You're just a casual fan who never went out and covered twitchy receivers. Unless you understand the position and actually had to play the position, you probably need to stay off the keyboard and go out and try to do it yourself. Slot receivers are killing nickel corners in the pros and cfb every week; as long as he's not costing you games, he will be ok. Giving up 3-5 5 yd routes a game is not catastrophic, even if it yields a 1st down from time to time. Like I said, you try and play the position and see if as easy as you claim it should be...Dam clowns

Go back and watch 5 years of film on him and tell me what you see. Don't worry I'll wait.

95% of this board would agree he hasn't been good during his time here. Watch the bowl game in 2020....he got torched all game. **** the 3-5 yard routes....he's been giving up touchdowns. Delusional fool.

Keyboard warrior calling me a dumbass oh ok tough guy.

What really stands out to me this season is that our DBs are coming down hill tackling and attacking ball carriers. If you aren't a willing tackler you will not play for Guidry.

He needs reps.

There's no way in the world the staff can expect that 20 and 5 will play every snap of every game for the rest of the season. The backups need to be ready.

I say take a wait and see approach here!!! It’s not fair to say he’s missing because unlike DIAZ, Guidry doesn’t shuffle his safeties every series!!! Which I’m so happy about!!! I hated that crap!!! I don’t know who was worse Manny or No D!!! That guy use to have Fentress in the game!!! Lord

This, coming from a casual fan who probably rode the bench if you even played; the corner is the 2nd hardest position to play(after QB), and nickel is even harder to defend than the outside. You're making your easy assessments from your couch and not the field. Idc how long anyone plays that position, you will give up receptions. Football favors the receiver and passing game now. Unless you are elite; and even then, you're going to get beat in games. Mario, Guidry and coach A has him on the field for a reason; guess what, maybe the others are no better at covering players with option routes and can go inside or out depending on how they size you up. Easy to trash someone for doing something less than 100%and you can't even do it.
