Milk box: anybody seen Tommy Kennedy?

Question for the workout warriors, after the reports of Kennedy being physically overmatched in Spring, is it possible for a young man to develop that kind strength needed for the job in a Summer of intense training? Is it possible that he develops, or is it probably too much work to accomplish in this short of a time frame?
We don't know what type of S+C program they had him on at Butler but obviously it wasn't nearly on par with a FBS program's. That said, He could still make significant gains. He was brought in to be a finesse, pass-blocking left tackle. He doesn't exactly have to become the Incredible Hulk. He just has to gain enough mass/strength to where he's not a total push over. He's technically sound with good feet and length. We've seen that these are the characteristics Butch Barry looks for in lineman recruits, knowing he can always bulk them up here in the weight room. It's too early to totally throw in the towel on the kid.

However...Immediately getting moved to center is a huge red flag. It means the coaches were so unimpressed by his ability that they just threw away the idea of him playing tackle. He doesn't have the frame to play guard and if the best he can be is a center that can only combo block, it's probably good that he's only taking up a roster spot for one year.

Kid has a lot of proving to do in the weight room and on the field.

How do you know?

May also be that he is just over matched at this level and there's a reason he ended up at Butler in the first place.

You don't think the fact that he was physically overwhelmed and came in incredibly weak has anything to do with the training program he was in for the last three years? He didn't get benched because he doesn't understand how to play, he got benched because he was nowhere near strong enough to hold up on an FBS offensive line.

Hopefully he’s been living in the weight room since spring.

I think best case at this point is he’s a quality depth type. Don’t think he’ll start at all here.

April to the gator game is five months. With a tremendous effort and good plan he can make a lot of progress in that short period to be more competitive physically.

However, I don’t recall him being named o line lifter of the week. Zion has been. Doesn’t bode well for Kennedy to be working like an animal in the weight room.

Still, a guy his size shouldn’t be getting completely physically dominated play in, play out. That usually speaks to a lack of mental toughness, which is more difficult to develop over a summer.

Zion came out of high school under sized and lowly rated still earned the respect of the team in the spring against some future NFL caliber DEs.

Tom Kennedy’s issue isn’t the program he came from he’s just soft as **** and one off season isn’t going to fix that.

He is literally front and center in the pic going around all of Cane related social media for when that rape victim came in and spoke to the team.
She speaks to every single team.... She has made it her mission!

I am worried softness is his problems, too.

I have seen big physical mismatches on the lines but often times guys can hold their own with fight and leverage.

Reports say Kennedy has been extremely disappointing. He may not be a star on this level, but an undersized true freshman shouldn’t be taking a spot from a fifth year senior.

We need lots of help at LT and they just abandoned that idea. The way Nesta went at him is what guys do when they see a weak mind and fearful heart on the field.

The kid needs a psychologist as much as he needs heavy weights and protein shakes.

Doubtful. If it is possible it means he has been lazy in the weight room for 3+ years prior to coming here.

Let's be fair. In the past, we've had guys that have been in the weight room 3 or more years that weren't lazy. After Moffit left, our weight room sucked. And Kennedy came from where, Butler?

No

Really weird you’d think all those monstrous defensive linemen he mixed it up with playing FOR BUTLER would’ve prepared him for the big time.

I heard their game against Creighton was a real war.
In his defense Creighton is sortve similar to some of the powerhouses this team has lost to in that same timespan. If scraps is what we sort through then why are yall upset when scraps is exactly what we got...

Do not write him off. Nesta make a lot of OL look silly.
Last person to see TK was Smokey, said he saw him and Nesta talking about a ‘We Bike’ or something...

Mike Sullivan is in our hall of fame. He felt so overwhelmed in practice he was going to quit, coach said you won't face anyone near as good as what you faced in practice...he performed quite well...could that be Kennedy's situation today?
