Yes, those things do matter and parents and recruits do notice it. Not saying Rumph has to be retained, but it's not a good look having no black guys on one side of the ball.

Sigh. You’re just plain wrong. If what you’re saying is true, then the Randy Shannon years would have been woefully different. Also, you keep saying “all white staff” on multiple posts on this thread. Do you know something the rest of us don’t about the new replacements?

Furthermore, it’s equally as *racist* to keep someone in their job simply to just be the token black guy. This isn’t the Peace Corps, boo. We’re trying to win another natty, and may the best man be appointed to each position, regardless of skin color.

Lastly, if what you’re saying is true, then Schnellenberger wouldn’t have had success recruiting inner city kids. Or Johnson. Or Erickson. Or Butch. It comes down to skill and success, and if you’re not successful at your job, then BUH BYE. Most of us here are looking for that 6th ring, not the 6th merit badge at the local Boy Scouts chapter. Most recruits would agree, and if they don’t - if they don’t prioritize winning above all else, then I don’t want them.

If the best candidate for each position is black, then perfect. El Hefe wants to win again, and so should you. Get out of here with your moot points.

I know of 2 different DB coaches in HS in South Fla that thought Rumph was a joke, whether yall wanna hear it or not he's not well respected on the scene & gets clowned by a lot of local South fla coaches, which is why he had such a hard time recruiting.

they dont understand. They hold that over on him and thats it. HE NEVER was known as some up and coming big time coach or anything down here...and Richt hired him due to comfortability and thinking he would atleast bring in the Heritage studs that were down the pike. He literally didnt bring in any...and Nesta aint even f with him tough. We got Herbert who was on his 3rd choice in us.

Im indifferent if he stays or goes. I personally think he is a waste of coaching spot...if we can get a guy to coach both s and cbs. Fran Brown honestly would be a nice upgrade...and give us some ticks in recruiting locally and even in the nj/ny area where we may be about to set up shop

Y’all are making this a bigger deal than it is. We need hard asses like Fedora, Ponce, Seider, Mario Cristobal, etc. We had Ice Harris, Barrow, Randy Melvin, etc...they weren’t hard asses that told these egotistical coaches to shut up, know their place, and don’t tell us how to do our jobs. If you don’t have that attitude then these dudes are going to step all over you(see Richt’s recruiting). I don’t care if they’re purple as long as they check these high school “coaches”.

Where did this idea that he is the "teacher" come from?. He was learning on the job. Him and Banda are one in the same..except Banda has more experience and can likely call Manny's defense.

Its a myth that Rumph is some cb coach Mr Miyagi. Even at Heritage there were 3 former nfl defensive backs that coached on his team.

FIU is definately Butch Davis worth currently. No one was clamoring for B8tch Davis other than Um 30 for 30 fans. He was a washed up coach that had his last school on probation and was working on espn. Those guys get those type of jobs. See Lane Train at FAU.

We get the coaching situation right and win more games and watch how it all magically and organically improves on the recruiting front.

Richt had three black assistants - Duggans, Brown, Rumph.

Diaz probably needs the same also or the black hispanic divide is going to start getting stocked against him, not the least by interests opposed to UM. Not fair, just how it is. Our recruit base is largely AA and that means the identity of our staff matters to an extent.

Pretty easy to accomplish that. Have DB, LB, DL, and the OL spots.

It ain’t even about Rumph.
 
Both Panda and Rumph have missed on huge amount of DB recruits and as a matter of fact Tariq has now been CB'ed to UGA.......who was his lead recruiter? Panda and no fire Panda Now thread.

1 more thing which is one of the dumbest thing that keeps getting regurgitated on this site is that Pakte and Panda understands the system better than Rumph. All Manny runs is a 4-2-5 on normal downs and 3-3-5 on 3rd and longs, theres nothing complicated or exotic about Manny scheme but let yall tell it that a 1 year removed from being a grad assistant and former bartender knows more about the Manny scheme than a former HS school, good college and NFL CB and safety

Well considering Banda and Patke have worked under Manny for years at multiple schools, it’s a reasonable assumption they understand the defense better than Rumph.
