Mike Rumph note

I mean, we've asked the question a million times and no one really wants to answer it, but who tf have Banda and Patke landed if we're penalizing Rumph for his recruiting?

Banda's misses are just as epic as Rumph's.

I mean I get it. We wanna say things like "best man for the job" , which is true, but you're fooling yourself if you think no one's going to notice there's not one guy who looks like you on an entire side of the ball.

Look at UGA, Clemson, and Bamas staffs. They don't look like that by accident.

It's bad optics, especially after what happened in the NFL today.

Patke got hired for almost landing a TX DT and we're giving Banda credit for safety performance??? I'm confused.... On one hand everybody is saying Panda just recruits and Rumph teaches. Rumph has turned draft free agents into respectable draft picks with Bandy and MJ next inline to get drafted. When Mork was the HC you guys hated the idea Patke and Banda being a CO-DC's but now Manny the new HC everybody fallen in love again with those they couldn't stand.

So to summarize Rumph deserve to be fired for missing out on the Heritage DB's but has had a greater impact on team play than Panda and Patke combined

I agree with a lot of what you're saying except Banda has had by far a bigger impact with recruiting. People are okay with Banda calling plays because Diaz will be there to help him.

Rumph is a solid coach but terrible recruiter. That was the question mark coming in and he failed in that area. I’m indifferent if he stays or goes as long as others on staff can pick up his recruiting deficiency...

I believe Rump was hired to land all those top recruits at his high school, which did not happen.
Terrible recruiter.
Average at best coach.

Since all these guys worked under Diaz I am fairly certain he knows who to fire. If they did a good job, which most on the D apparently did, they will be retained. If he felt they were a weakness then they will be let go. This is how a business wirks and now that he has the authority he will use it. We should be more worried about the good coaches that want to leave.

Obviously he doesn’t match Diaz if his job ain’t safe

I was referring to their preference for physical, aggressive press-man corners. It's possible they clash in other respects that I'm not privy to.

Hate on Rumph's recruiting all you want - I personally think it's misguided in this bag-driven recruiting landscape - but his coaching is beyond reproach.

Glad you said it. Banda and Patke getting promoted was Richt’s lazy choice, not Msnny’s

Yeah not sold on bringing in Ed Reed or Ray Lewis for that matter. Let them cut their teeth under another program first; we’ve been there, done that before. I’d love to pouch a top flight recruiter/position coach from another school especially with the $$$ we saved hiring Manny versus an established HC. That would send shock waves throughout the college landscape and show that Diaz means business. Who he hires on the offensive side of the ball will be massively critical to the success of the program out of the gate.

Not sure the hate on Rumph. Good coach. Let Banda handle the recruiting. Not every good coach is an ace at recruiting. Like someone said, get rid of Patke and keep Rumph. We don’t even know if Patke can coach let alone recruit!

From the way the linebackers played against wisconsin, they may have had 2 tackles combined!

Thank you. Everyone jumping on Rumph head when linebacker play has been the biggest liability on defense by far.

That's 2 years in a row the linebackers have been lined up wrong against wisconsin, last year it was coach diaz, this year patke. Somebody and to many people being dumb enuff and crying about the guys that didnt sign, and saying dumb stuff about not hearing recruits mention coach rumph, first off that's a lie, and further more, im more interested in what the players on the roster think of coach rumph, and they have spoken. Coach rumph dont care about the limelight!

Rumph is an absolute liability. There’s no room on a college football staff for a CB coach who can’t recruit. It’s actually absurd to even consider it. If Diaz keeps him that’s an immediate black mark.
But his players arent a liability on the field. Not against the pass and not against the run.

Last time we hired a guy with as much coaching experience as an analyst his name is Jon Richt Jr. Actually, they worked together in Buffalo.
I see you are vehemently against Reed as a position coach. You do realize he was basically a defacto DC on the field for Miami and Baltimore. Both won championships and I would bet he would be an extreme motivator and teacher. He would also bring the experience and culture we had and Baltimore had.
