There's nothing impressive in firing a bunch of under achievers. What would be impressive is the type of staff he assembles, how the staff identifies talent, how they coach them up and get them game ready, and then the results on the field.

None of which he has been responsible for in the past, none of which he has shown a history of being ready for. We're taking one **** of a risk.
correct , but he appears to have a plan on what he wants and where he wants the program headed.
change in S&C is a positive as well time will tell as i was as skeptical as you yesterday and 1/2 expected 2-3 of offensive staff
to stick....... cleaning house says to me he has a plan and is not beholden to anyone from previous regime

OH MY GOD

Diaz may be lookin for someone to coach the entire secondary, and Rumph might not be that guy. I personally hope he hires only one secondary coach and that will free up one position for a full time ST coach. I am so sick of getting whooped on ST.

Man stfu. Being a ***** is one thing but being one that can read makes ya eyes pop out like Perry. I saw somewhere that reed would be interested in coaching t Miami. Just don't know if its legit or not. There's no reason not to believe he couldn't coach here as a position coach. Mike vrabel did it at Ohio St coaching linebackers and d-line after retiring. That's just one example b.

You won't see me starting a thread about ray Lewis being dc. That's about as dumb as your post.
Ed Reed great player....but give me a run down of his COACHING CREDENTIALS that warrant Manny hiring him....these kids was not even born when Ed did his thing at UM....when he gets some experience and shows that work ethic...i wouldn't mind him coming back to coach....

Or he’s a terrible recruiter and is considered a joke around sfla.
With all honesty who cares about recruiting if you can consistently finish #1 in pass defense?

Can he finish #1 consistently? Idk.

but people on this board prioritize recruiting over coaching and that's retarded. It's why coach Kool is the best in the business and doesn't matter that he isn't the greatest recruiter, coaching matters more

Nah I’m all for x’s/ o’s and coaching. I’m just stating what I’ve been told. He’s a solid coach but the scheme and dL play helps the db’s out a lot

id argue the close coverage of dbs helps pass rush as much as pass rush helps coverage. also mike Jackson a guy most Miami fans though was a jag is about to be at worst a 2nd round pick, bandy is good, he made malik young great prior to injury, dean looked serviceable which is saying a lot he made Colbert and others look good also his cb play has been good to great at times with 2 stars grad transfers and jc targets. yes recruiting leaves something to be desired all though last class cb class is good u got blades/freirson/ etc and banda may of helped land them but rumph is part of it also

No doubt

I think Rumph is a solid coach but I wouldn't really care if he got let go. I think he could make a good pro DB coach.

As for a replacement, please stop with the corny ex-player suggestions. Just because a guy was a good player doesn't mean he's a good coach. There's very few examples of great coaches who were also great players. I fact most of the best coaches weren't good players at all.

Same as mike vrabels were when Ohio St hired him. Similar to ken Dorsey when the panthers hired him as a qb coach. He'll ken wisenhunt coached te's and vanderbilt etc etc. Numerous examples out there. I'm not going to name a bunch of guys because your to dam lazy to look it up yourself. I mean dam, you act like this chit is a brand new concept. This type of thing has been going on since the beginning of time dam near. lmao

Ed reed knows what the job entails and i'll doubt he'd take it or entertain the thought if he couldn't commit 100%. He doesn't come of as a guy who does things half ***. You might cheerlead with canes ever after or wtf ever his name is but this concept is fairly common.

I know I'm gonna get murdered for this by certain posters who refuse to think these things should matter, and the usual suspects will probably call me a race baiter (whatever) --

But you can't fire the one black guy on your defensive staff.

Yes, those things do matter and parents and recruits do notice it. Not saying Rumph has to be retained, but it's not a good look having no black guys on one side of the ball.
Recruits worry about wins and hot chicks. Skin color is irrelevant. Diaz is Cuban dude.
