Mike James on fan base raising money for fire golden banner

From the admin's perspective, they hate the banner. HATE IT. They thought it was childish and did more harm for the profile of the school as a while rather than just football.

That being said, it was just a tangible face to how some of the fanbase felt. The banner itself did not make Al change up everything all of a sudden. It was just one more drop of pressure added to the steady amount that Al was already feeling. 3 years of pressure from the fanbase, 6 months of pressure from the media, 1.5 months of pressure from the admin, and Golden being aware that what had been attempted wasn't working is what made him change.

Hopefully the focus here being that Golden recognized changes were needed is what is taken out of this, whether completely voluntary or slightly coerced. Credit should be given to him. He still had to make the change and thus far he has.

I'll acquiesce that he's actually made some changes when we beat Fsu

Fair enough. Let me clarify.

For the Duke, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina games, he made effective changes on defense that were instrumental in the team winning.

How's that?

We look a lot better. But I had the wool pulled over my eyes through 7 weeks last year.

Other than that your post was objective and pretty accurate I think, for whatever that's worth.

I'm worried that I'm having the wool pulled over my eyes now but the only difference is we are holding teams to well under their averages this go around. Last year we were still giving up 500 yards during that hot streak.

The tale will be told in one week. I genuinly believe his career at miami will be defined or summarized through 60 minutes of football next Saturday. And I think it's a fair test, everything is in our favor right now partially to his credit.

Exactly. But after wake forest I woke up. I didn't like coley from the jump because he was clue less in the uf game. He employed the same strategy he did in the louisville game this year and I didn't like it. Dukes not built for that. Especially with power blocking. But the way Jim grobe took golden to school, I knew it was only a matter of time before we slipped up.

The talent on the field just didn't look like it was being used right. No way in **** we should have a close game with that wake team.

The banner was possibly the greatest thing to happen to Golden. He'll need to work his magic again come November 15 though.

After wake forest I considered us a team "that just gets it done." I generally don't complain about a win. Learned that lesson with BC and VT in 01.

I don't Complain about a win when it's evident that the players are being put in great position to succeed and the other team team is just playing good football.

But when the team is being put at a clear disadvantage because the coaches want to force a scheme/philosophy that doesn't work it ****es me off.

It was embarrassing. Game should have never been close.

No doubt. It was just easy to put on the homer goggles because we won. Hindsight, losing to wake forest last year would've been the best thing for us. Lose to duke and wake forest in the same year? O well. We're all wiser now, hopefully after Saturday everyone will be on the same page.

Pretty sure a regular person wouldn't get to keep their jobs if they failed like Golden and the defense did for the first 3 1/2 years. And they get paid a lot of money to not ****ing stink. Boo hoo.

Except Golden's job was to keep the program afloat during a ****ing NCAA scandal and he didn't fail at all. As a matter of fact a lot of you were groveling at his feet hoping he wouldn't leave after 2011 and 2012 when things were at their darkest.

Some people get it !!! Sharp post

See that's that loser mentality.. Blame the fans, when you have mutha fluckaz on espn laughing at us and calling us the Candy Canes.. SMH..

I can't actually fathom that people here think that a banner had even a microscopic amount of effect on the product you've seen on the field.

That's the most pathetic part of this entire comical charade.

Well that, or that people think the banner is anything more than a bunch children jerking each other off thinking they made even a slight bit of difference to the football program in any facet.

You cant fathom is because its not real.

no one thinks that. there are plenty of posts on here that explain thoroughly what people belive the banner did. yet you felt the need to make this comment?

Shows you didnt read any of this and just wanted to see yourself type. come on bro. gotta do better than that.

No one thinks that the coaching staff looked in the sky and said " oh, a banner, let me play press man and blitz more"

Come on dude. gtfoh.

The person behind the banner did a newspaper interview 3 weeks ago using his name and i believe picture. So is he a coward?

No, just a dumb ***.

No, he's a hero.

Let's see how all you Golden **** lickers are acting after we lose to FSU and then split our last 2 against horrible opponents. Place will be a ******* ghost town.

He's not the right guy for the job. If any of you retards think 2 back to back wins against a pair of below average teams which have 10 combined losses between them means ANYTHING....then retards isn't even a strong enough word for you.

Site has been infested by faculty, admins, and corresponding family members...I'm convinced of it.

Right guy or not, the banner is still stupid and embarrassing to the fanbase.

Not blaming the fans for the losses. That's on the team. Doesn't make the banner boy fans childish little stunt any less stupid and embarrassing to the fanbase.

It would be hysterical if it weren't so sad and embarrassing. They are so frustrated (understandably) and impotent, that they want SOOOO badly to believe they actually had an effect on anything.

What's embarrassing to the fanbase are losers like Cutler Ridge Laz and the "you win some you lose some, but we're still the #CanesFam" thinking ******** that accept mediocrity.

What's embarrassing to the fanbase are losers like you that have put the head coach over the program.

For someone that claims the banner did absolutely nothing and means nothing, you sure have spent a whole lot of time *****ing about how terrible it was for UM. In the grand scheme of things, mediocrity-accepting fans are a much greater danger to this program than any banner.

you statement is incorrect, yet again. It would be correct if you said part of the fanbase, as part of the fanbase does not agree with you.

Yeah, no effect at all. Just every hurricane beat reporter talking about it, the national media talking about it, someone running a counter banner at the UNC game, this entire board up in arms about it, twitter users going off about it. But yeah, it had zero effect.

No, what's embarrassing to the fanbase is childish, whiny, pathetically delusional fans who think they are "accomplishing something" because they fly a whiny banner. That has nothing to do with putting "the head coach over the program" it has to do with the lunatic fringe idiots of the fanbase being....idiots.
