Mike James on fan base raising money for fire golden banner

The people who supported the banner are no fans of the U. Either that or complete ****ing retards.

The banner has temporarily served its purpose. Should we lose next Saturday, expect the bannering to become furious and with a vengeance.

6-4(3-3) is screaming for a banner.

i hate the banners.

but, mike james is using very faulty logic in this instance. there are good arguments for & against the banners. this is not one of them.

Mike James is 100% correct. Instead of flying banners, which had ZERO effect on this coaching staff and team, maybe some of you knuckleheads should buy tickets and send money to the Hurricane Club. Support your team, not be a drag on it! What a novel idea!

Lol zero effect? The defense has completely changed since the banner. But you go ahead and think that its had no effect.

if ya'll have such a problem with the banner people why don't you go tell it straight to them instead of having a whiny circle jerk over here about it

http://www.westendzone.com

I just dont' get why ya'll talk so down to htese people like if you have a problem with what they're doing it's not like they anonymous or something.

I bought new running shoes just before the defense played better. That must be it.

So.....the banner money so far should have been used for:

Carters treatment
Feed World Hunger

Any other ways you guys recommend I should spend MY money?

What a failed attempt to make a smartass comment

Oh...everybody trying to go with the "arbitrary" argument.

I won't act like I'm surprised.

Jim Kelly has a charity for Cancer Research called Hunters Hope. On the day that he was recognized for his on-field performance, more importantly for his fight with cancer and raising awareness about his foundation, you mongoloids bought a banner to fly at the game.

On the day that Jim Kelly, a beloved Cane, who is fighting/fought cancer and is ATTEMPTING TO RAISE MONEY FOR RESEARCH, the mongoloids bought a banner (with his name in it no less) to raise awareness about...firing the head coach.

But like I said, I won't act like I'm surprised.
When CaneAlmighty and dk72 like your comment you're in great company. Keep riding that high horse though.

This guy isn't even a Miami fan. Dude is a UNC fan.

The banners have made Golden begin acting like he has a set of balls.

He actually got into a player's *** on the sideline against UNC. Had never seen him do that before.

I get what he was saying, however, the banner was a form of vocalizing moutning frustration with Golden and staff. By his logic, no one should ever be fired if they try hard. That is not the way the world works young man. If you don't perform on the job, it doesn't matter how hard you are trying.

Golden works hard, no doubt. However, if it doesn't translate into wins, what good is all that hard work. As my motto goes, "work smarter, not harder.".

So he doesn't agree with raising money to fly a "banner"? As a former player he is entitled to his opinion. The vitriol because he doesn't support yours is telling. Mike James is an outstanding representative of the University of Miami and he was an underrated player in college.

Pay closer attention.

Pay closer attention to what?

Miami fans are crappy because they would rather pay for a banner than pay for a seat

LOL, what??? That makes perfect sense. Let me reward the school/coaches for putting a crappy product on the field by giving them more money. Brilliant.

Isn't that the definition of bandwagon fan? A supporter of a team that only shows up when the team is good.

note: not calling you a bandwagon fan, just stating what you're describing is very similar to that.

Really??? Spending their money to fly a banner protesting the product on the field you consider a bandwagon fan with the record we have had the last 10 years? We haven't had bandwagon fans since 02/03.

Mike plays on another poorly coached team..he has his own issues....FLY THE BANNER

Yeah, that's it. Because Smith has a lot to work with the soup sandwich that Schiano left in Tampa. I'm just amazed how our fans go after former players who have opinions that differ from theirs.

Still nobody answers my question, what harm has the banner done? I suspect this won't be answered because it didn't cause any harm, it actually helped.

And yes, I'm saying the banner is part of the recent changes. It's not a coincidence that Al was content with 2 of the worst defenses in school history and made zero changes, then when the heat is applied in various forms (which the banner was a big part of, nationally at least) suddenly we see a more aggressive defense.

The last thing any corporation wants is the public as a whole speaking out against them, nothing forces change faster then that. This isn't new and it isn't limited to football or Miami fans in particular

Freedom of speech and to spend my money any way I want.

If Golden was on minimum wage, I would understand going after his "livelyhood". But my dollars in season tickets pay for him, so I should have a voice. To have it muted because someone doesn't like it, if you feel that way, Russia and Cuba would love you as a citizen.

By the way, I didn't give any money to the banner, but I support it and the folks right to do it. It is their opinion, and their money, and they should be able to do whatever the **** they want with both.

Amen :Qft9gEw:

I imagine if I could have a few minutes with him this is probably how it'd go.

MJ: there are kids dyin in the world, the money for that banner could have been used to feed them
Me: so people should spend their money on feeding kids instead of going to games?
MJ: naw, that's not what I'm sayin. The banner is a wate of money.
Me: oh, I get it. Kids lives are more important than the banner but hurricane games are more important than kids lives.
MJ: naw, see…you know the fans who go to games, you know they help starving kids but the people who fly the banners don't.
Me: how do we know that?
MJ: man, why you against Golden for?
