Not defending Heatherman because I'm sure he is more than aware. But I do think with injuries, our LB's not being great in coverage and our DL at times being a bit quieter (sometimes based on quick passing offenses) the defense is still trying to figure out who it is...

If we can just get a bit healthier I would hope that sures some things up. Put some guys back into their more natural roles.

I find the the LB's when they're dropping aren't aware enough to find work. They drop to an area and have a receiver curl near them and they aren't looking for work. They'll stop 5 yards from the receiver even with no other threats in the area.

3rd down defense and pass yards allowed will improve simply by limiting Thornton's reps

I have been saying for a while that our Defense is predictable. We blitz way too often and leave huge open areas for teams to exploit. We blitz off the edge with the Nikel and from the S position too often. We have talented pass rushers along the DL. I wish we would rush 4 and stay back in coverage more often. Somebody needs to be self scouting our Defense and not make it so easy for OC’s to predict.

We saw how huge personnel change flip our defense in 2024➡️2025. Not only have we had injuries to projected starters but that has had a domino effect where Bryce is now playing CB. Jakobe Thomas is also a huge player to replace, not only Keionte. So imo, im not a coach, they know more than me but I rather we keep Poyser and Bryce at safety and let them get most of the snaps there. Then let the young guys and new players play ahead of them. Let Dunnigan and 0 play the nickel spot. And let the Young CBs play opposite of Xavier Lucas until Damari and Antoine comes back healthy.

Just my opinion, I feel musical cheers with the starters is causing too much issues. When you move 1 player from his position, that's 2 problems. And Bryce range can erase alot of mistakes back there.

I dont believe in magic coaching, coaches are as good as their personnel. I see what Heatherman can do with a good deck of players. He is now seeing the challenge when the deck is half stacked.

We ran a that pitch for a TD, FSU never seen that in their lives from us.
The fact that a pitch was called was great. It went for a TD was a thing of beauty.

I love to see us calling more of a mix of running plays.
