Michigan 's BOT vs. Ours....

There's no comparison...Michigan's decision makers actually care about football.

Even if they don't end up getting Harbaugh...the fact they went all out to get him is something our inept, incompetent administration would never do.

It ain't just about the admin. That's the point.

Michigan has deep pockets. Miami doesn't. That's the point.

I have never and will never buy this crap.

They just raised A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. The $8M a year Harbaugh is about to get is less than 10% of that.

Enough with that excuse already...there's a difference between being cheap and not having money.

THEY RAISED 100 MIL OVER 6 YEARS, FOR ALL ATHLETICS, NOT JUST FOOTBALL.

Michigan (and many other schools like UF, Bama, etc) laugh their asses off when they see it took us 6 years to raise that money, It takes them about 3 months to fundraise that much, just for football alone.

You guys are being willfully ignorant.

If Stephen Ross was was smart he would buy Al out himself and invest in a huge hire for UM creating a huge buzz for the school and making millions off us in the process through Sun Life. But hes an idiot

prove what? That Michigan got 200 mil from one guy--Stephen Ross--just last year, while we have to struggle for 6 years to put together half that?

GTFOH.

They can use that money any way they wish...and you're ignorant if you don't think they receive donations separate for that amount specifically ear marked for the sports program. You're an even bigger idiot if you don't realize individual booster would contribute to at least cover part of the $5M buyout.

So yeah...enough with that garbage already.

Michigan also has a huge fan and alumni base. ****, 1000 students marched on the President's house earlier this year to demand the head of the athletic director for the state of the football program. That would never happen down here. Remember that little protest they tried to get going a few weeks back? How many people showed? You could offer free food and you couldn't get 50 people to show up down here for a march.

Oh, so the buyout's only 5 mil? Since when? Link?

That's been the word....and even with an administration as pathetically ******* incompetent as ours....there's no way the # could be materially higher than that.

So, in other words, you don't know jack **** about any of this...but you're sure that we have the money, and it's all that admin's fault that they're too cheap to spend it.

******* genius.

Team value: $104 million
Revenue: $81 million
Profit: $58 million

it took us 6 years to get 100 million. michigan made half that in one ******* season as PROFIT and in a year they were terrible and struggled in attendance. dont compare us to ******* michigan please. we dont have the same boosters that are willing to donate as they do, as well. ****, we need a stephen ross and for those saying he should donate to UMiami, why should he? its not his school like michigan is, he never went to Miami, and his only connection is the school paying him to rent the stadium for 7 saturdays. i have no issue w Ross not donating to a school he has no connection to. i wouldn't donate to another school that i have no connection with either. He still gets paid by Miami regardless. his only worry for miami should be the dolphins. The BOT, admin should find a way to fix the football program. btw, arison is the only owner down here with a real connection to the school.

Just to clarify, Ross earmarked 100 of the 200 mil to athletics, to act like that's insignificant and that Michigan is not one a whole different level financially than Miami is either seriously disingenuous or stupid.

Hey *******...$5M a year would be a pretty big number historically.

Stop being a ******* moron. $5M is in the ball park no matter what.

The point is...money isn't the reason he's still here.

Hey *******...I've heard in the 8 million range. He's still got 10-11 mil on his contract, and word is that the buyout is significantly more than half of it.

And yes, money is the ******* reason. If it takes us 6 years to raise 100 mil for all athletics combined, how long will it take us to raise 8 mil for Golden's buyout, not to mention getting a new coach with an entire new slate of assistants?

I swear, you guys are financial morons.

Hey ****face...$3M ain't going to make the difference. Hence the "material" designation I threw out earlier ****head.

http://businessofcollegesports.com/data/2013-14-fbs-football-finances/

Michigan - $58.4 million profit 2013-2014 season.
Miami - $5.5 million profit

Michigan - 42k enrollment
Miami - 16k

Michigan - state funded
Miami - private

Michigan - 100k stadium filled weekly
Miami - 30k is a good day against teams not names FSU

How does Miami compete? Location and tradition. Otherwise, in today's college landscape, it would be wiped off the map.

Miami doesn't have the horses to compete financially against the big boys in the NCAA.

They need to find the next Jim Harbaugh, not the current one.
