Does anyone really know what will happen for sure? I think his points are just as valid as those who support this move.
I don't follow all the ins and outs of this - it does seem that there is more concern about Yormack getting hired in the negative way.
Again, not sure who all is in Yormack's corner pushing this but I do agree with Lake that it seems unwise not to include Mario in the process... Joe E. and that group have made some very positive decisions since they came on board at Miami. I have to believe if they are on board with Yormack there must be pretty solid reasons why. Unless others on the BOT have more control over this...
I'm not sure what you are saying here.
Why do you think David Lake's points "are just as valid as those who support this move"? I'm not sure what is being compared here or what this means. That's not a criticism, I haven't listened to Lake's rant, so I can't address it point-by-point. I'm just saying "hiring Yormark means we are Big 12 bound" is inaccurate.
As for the point that you do mention specifically, I'm not sure why Lake thinks Mario has NOT been included in the process. I don't know to what extent Mario has been included, but to assume that he has NOT been included is a big and/or bad assumption, given that Yormark has had numerous meetings/conversations with UM decision-maker types.
UNLIKE many decisions made by UM in the past, this one APPEARS to involve more deliberation than most. Which is good. But if it still ends up with "hiring a guy I didn't want to get the job", the job search will likely STILL be accused of being inadequate.
We shall see. I'm a big believer in Jim Frevola, I've mentioned his name on these boards for years. But Yormark's daughter goes to UM, he lives in SoFla, and he has spoken with many people with whom he needs to speak. And if President Joe wants Yormark, he will not be dissuaded by the dissent of a few alums/boosters/fans.
Gonna be interesting.
