Miami will be the #1 seed in the playoffs if..

we win out. I expect every ranked team we have beaten will improve their rankings by the year end. FSU, Florida, and Notre Dame have excellent chances of improved play and rankings. After looking at Ohio State and Oregon schedules, there is no way they will have the strength of schedule wins that we have. Therefore, if we manage to keep our heads on our shoulders and win the remaining games on our schedule we should go into the playoffs as the number one seed.

I know this is early and I hate counting my chickens after being burned so many times in the past but.....
The Big 10 champ should.be #1, provided theyre undefeated

Fuc% I just realized that as well!

We need to start blowing out the remaining teams on our schedule…

For better or worse the further away we get away from this opening gauntlet of games media and fans will forget and cling to if we “barley” beat the VT and Syracuses of the ACC by 10 coming down the stretch.

If we're ranked 1 in the first rankings and stay undefeated we stay 1 but I think we start out at 2 and stay they there as long as 1 of Ohio State/Oregon stay undefeated.

Is your brain permafrost?

🤣

I kid, I kid...

yes an undefeated Miami might be #1 seed...but they are a loooooooooong way away from that happening.

Bama lost to common opponent, won't happen. UGA lost to Bama. TAMU and OU have direct path to #1 though.
I get it. But if Bama runs the table they’d have beaten, UGA, OU, Missouri, LSU, Tennessee and whoever in the SECCG.

UGA would beat GT, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas(who knows if that’s worth anything) and probably Bama in the SECCG.

Our issue is best case, we get an undefeated GT in the ACCCG. Because we’ve got 7 cupcakes left. As much I don’t want it to happen, we’d need FSU, USF and UF to essentially win out. ND has to make the playoff. I’m not trying to say it’s not possible but it’s just not probable.

Ultimately, a bye just needs to be the goal.

The first helpful game score happened last night. Number twenty four USF bulls win over a 5-1 N.Texas team 63-36. Already our are wins are looking better.... if they beat 6-0 Memphis, next week, they'll be in the top 15.

I can't see it unless some other ACC teams step up enough for more primetime matchups. The longer the season goes on the more oxygen the SEC and B1G are going to consume. Miami vs Stanford isn't getting segments from any of the prediction/react pod cast bros or gameday.

I personally would predict winner of B1G (Ohio State vs Oregon) will get the #1 seed, but I'm just a dude on a message board.

While the 1 seed would be great, 1-4 doesn't matter that much to me. Get the extra week of rest and preparation and go from there. Miami is going to have to beat good teams to win a natty. Once you're in complaining about the draw is for the mopes.

Last year the #1 seed had a tougher draw (Oregon getting Taint/Tennessee winner). It really doesn't make a difference after the top 4 unless they fixed that issue. The G5 school has no business being in the top 4 and earning the bye.

I think it's been changed now to strictly seeding by ranking. The top four seeds get a bye.

The College Football Playoff has expanded to 12 teams, with the four highest-ranked teams receiving a first-round bye directly into the quarterfinals.
The teams ranked 5 through 12 play in the first round, and the higher seeds (5, 6, 7, and 8) host those games at their home stadium or a site they choose.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held at the traditional New Year's Six bowl sites on a rotating basis, and the National Championship remains at a neutral host site.

I believe the highest seed plays lowest seed and it’s ordered that way in the quarterfinals.

It'll be eye test. We stomp out the last 8 games we can hold 1. We eek out too many close victories and we will be somewhere in the top 4.

OK that's how it should be. Why give us a ranking and then the bracket doesn't match the ranking.

We have to win out AND beat Tech in the ACCCG. There's a possibility that Tech will be in the playoffs as well, assuming they're undefeated, even with a loss to us in the Championship.

Old style 1970's Style Points are going to start counting now, as well as SOS. The way ND, FSU and the Gatah (as well as USF) start beating their opponents is going to become important to the committee if anything goes sideways (which I don't anticipate, not this year anyway). It's important to beat teams down the way Are Parseghian's Irish teams did with us when they came down here in the Sixties and mollywhopped the old Miami teams.

I expect the Irish to get better as things go forward. The Gators will as well. So will USF. The problem is the Noles. There's no upside with those guys. They could start crashing unless they start beating up on cupcakes.
