Miami VS KKK Sneak Peak Vid

Let me ask a question. And I want to preface the question by saying, I'm not from south Florida, I was born and raised in Palatka, FL. I do have family living in Hollywood, FL and Ft. Lauderdale but I wasn't born nor raised down south. In the video, the guy was really unnerved that Alabama's secondary features guys from south Florida and he said, "I really don't get it" referring to why they would leave south Florida (not play for Miami) but go someplace else. So, here's my question for you south Florida guys, do you have the same sentiments? If you played football and had an opportunity to go to Miami and play for the Canes, would you? And why would you choose Miami over Alabama, OSU, Clemson, UGA, etc.? Thanks in advance.

I think it’s obvious that kids leave the area for a plethora of reasons. Bags, want to get away from SoFlo, etc., etc., etc.

Yep, a chief among them is that they are surrounded by "leaders of men" types that are looking out for THEIR best interests rather than the kid's and eventually end up heavily influencing the kid's/family's decision.

We’ve heard the reasons here dozens of times. Many times from those that are actually in the trenches with many of the kids.

We have issues with dudes that we would wish they’d help the home team, the way it used to be in our heydays, which kept Miami always at the top of the rankings. Instead the players are influenced ($$$) often & go to schools where the tradition has not been very accepting to people of color and said players are viewed as property. Anytime a player of color makes a mistake, the fan base true colors come out. To use an example of a non south Florida player, go look at Justin Fields and his experience at UGA. There are racist everywhere including here but not to the level here as it is in $EC country.

When did south Florida HS studs begin leaving Miami to play elsewhere? At the end of Coker's reign? Beginning with Shannon? Golden?

Good question that others here can answer for you but I would say it really took off with Golden.

Coker & Shannon we’re just bad coaches. Shannon had the #1 class in the nation one year made up of S. FL kids but once those Miami assistants, etc left, the wall fell.

It's always happened. Deion Sanders was from Ft. Meyers. Well within the state of Miami.
Chad Ochocinco Johnson was a Miami Highschool student.

Yup

I have my opinions of that fan base in Alabama....so be it. Not everyone of them but alot of them.

Ill be honest... if I ever had the chance to go to Miami and I knew I would hardly see the field I would go...thats the fan and love of the university for me. To be able to hold that diploma in my hand that says University of Miami and to say I was on the team is good enough for me.

However I understand why kids down here dont ultimately chose Miami for the various reasons as people have listed above me.

2012 Amari Cooper, Al Golden and The Cloud. The NCAA facilitated the weakening of our wall. It was destroyed by Bama's (and subsequently Clemson, FSU, UGA and LSU) ability to showcase SFL talent and generate 1st round Picks and titles.

When the NCAA made the move to use the Nevin scandal to eliminate Miami's competitive advantage to recruit in South Florida the flood gates opened. We've spent 9 yrs trying to repair the wall, we are two competitive seasons and subsequent recruiting classes from actually getting it halfway repaired.

Golden had Cooper in the books, kid had his room decked in Canes gear. He chose the bag and the rest is history.

It’s an ongoing topic on here. They leave to win correct? But nothing could be more true than they literally guarantee winning by staying. The shenanigans that the sec has had to pull to take kids out of south Florida has been well stated on this and other boards and it’s for a reason. The amount of nfl talent down here is staggering. The sec knows this and spends a lot of time down here recruiting these players.
Nothing and I mean nothing can guarantee more success then staying and playing with the most talented players from this area. Just go down the last 4 drafts and it’s all you need to know. We’ve been preaching this for years and just look at that **** Alabama secondary. Now add all the rest of the south Florida players that just Alabama has taken. Anyone that’s played pick up basketball always does the same thing. Amass as much talent as possible. Now you add the historic nature of Miami not only recruiting and winning with south Florida and players and the way they did it with their swagger and dancing and all the things that ****ed off the blue bloods and you understand the frustration. Sprinkle in the racist connotations that the fan bases of the blue blood and sect schools said about our team and our players and you start to understand the frustration with the Miami fan base.
