Imo, its fitting, call em what they are. The university whos fans immediately called Jalen Hurts (and countless others) the hard R the first chance they could when he lost them a game.
I mean I'm sure Jethro and Maureen in their shack in Cullman, Alabama say **** like that. And believe me there are plenty of those ******** in the State. I and the people around me hate them just as much as you do.

Why Hurts specifically? Despite being pretty poor in his 4 playoff starts, Id argue that he is more beloved amongst the fanbase than any Saban QB not named Tua. On his end, he pretty regularly reps Bama on social media and on the day he announced his transfer, posted a long Players' Tribune titled "To My Alabama Family." I dont think he does all that if he was peppered with racial abuse following his losses as a starter (both games of which he played bad)

Well we let Jeff Thomas in, and if you watched that documentary on Him, He barely went to school. But just eyeballing it, kids these days seem to be taking their academics more seriously, so I think those guys would've did what they had to do.
Funny you bring Jeff up because yeah, that documentary helped understand a lot and then leads me to the next question - how dumb must Cam Williams be that he’s academically ineligible or is it that he’s lazy or whatever is going on there?

Hurts honestly was just the only instance I could specifically remember by name tbh, I still have scatter brain lol.

Actually wasn't even aware of the rest of that after the fact though...thats wild.

Nah lol I'm not getting at peoples intelligence. Someone could be smart and just be trash in school IMO or be distracted or have other issues. All I know that kid wasn't smart to tweet about what he did, same as Kelvin Benjamin no one will take a chance or u limit your chances by taking shots at a team who gave u a chance. Not a good business move IMO.

U think UM now would squeeze those guys in? Or was it that bad?>
It had to be that bad or they were late bloomers... Pretty sure AB applied to like FSU and Akron maybe? and was denied over academics so he then went to a prep school in NC, then FIU but got kicked out, then Central Michigan as a walk on, that tells me either (1) no one saw the potential in him (if he were a 5* someone would have gotten him in some where) or (2) he had so many red flags no one could touch him. I looked him up on 247 and he had no ranking. I think he also went to the same HS as Richard Gordon who was his same class and Gordon was a high 4* so the ranking system was alive and well.

For Chad, I know he graduated then went to some random university and did not even play football, he then went to the same community college as steve smith (wonder how much, if any impact Steve had on him getting it together) and then it was actually erickson who recruited him to Oregon State, played one season and off to the NFL.

Maybe now years later with all the extra resources some scout or recruiting service or camp would have hyped that player up more which would garner more interest and attention and a desire to get your ish together but if it was the same as outline above, I still do not see either coming here.

This sounds like some legit common sense I bring to the front of my tiny brain, u prolly right sir. This is what I consider facts

Did Chad play at The High? If not, Him & Dre would've been helluva tandem if He did.

Yeah he did. I get confused when players bounce around a bunch in college but I think he was a 2000 draftee which would put him in the 96/97 class range which would have put him in Butch's wheelhouse for recruiting. If he was the goods, I doubt he slipped through Butch's fingers without good reason, **** Butch took Nate Webster ffs. Maybe @SWFLHurricane has some insight on him as a recruit.

Right or wrong, I feel so many people didn’t like Miami is because we had a lot of kids from the “south Florida hood”. We stuck it to the white football establishment, and gave them the proverbial middle finger w our Swag etc. so at some point the establishment figured out they needed our players up in the areas where they wouldn’t want to make a wrong turn while driving. We had our Shapiro scandal etc and they swooped in with $$$ to lure kids into these areas. To me, it’s selling out to take the $$$ to play for those same people that despised them/us. But that’s just my perception… I’m not from the hood, and we were pretty spoiled growing up.
If I had been good enough to play at the U or take an SEC bag, I’d play at the U…too loyal not to.

Gotcha.

I wasn't living in Miami when Chad was in HS, so I I'm not too familiar about the HSFB scene circa those years.

But I did watch Brandon Marshall's podcast where Chad seemed to imply He was running with some dope boys back then. Could've meant something else, but that's the way that I interpreted it LOL.

Let me ask a question. And I want to preface the question by saying, I'm not from south Florida, I was born and raised in Palatka, FL. I do have family living in Hollywood, FL and Ft. Lauderdale but I wasn't born nor raised down south. In the video, the guy was really unnerved that Alabama's secondary features guys from south Florida and he said, "I really don't get it" referring to why they would leave south Florida (not play for Miami) but go someplace else. So, here's my question for you south Florida guys, do you have the same sentiments? If you played football and had an opportunity to go to Miami and play for the Canes, would you? And why would you choose Miami over Alabama, OSU, Clemson, UGA, etc.? Thanks in advance.
I’ll put it like this..even as a diehard Miami fan for the time these families and kids invest in this sport, if my child ever had the opportunity to further their career at a major level I’m gearing my child towards the best situation to be successfully..Miami would get a look, but I wouldn’t send my son to play in the Golden era or Shannon era..under this staff Miami would get strong consideration. But I wouldn’t ignore other schools because of petty fan ****
