Miami vs Florida

Lying is the only scenario possible? Not that he mistakenly marked the email as spam? Not that he uses some old email server that automatically sorted it into his junk mail? Not that his kid accidentally deleted the email without his realizing? Not that his ex-wife cancelled his season ticket package without informing him as some sort of petty revenge? Not that when he filled out his season ticket package at the office he miswrote his email, or it was improperly transcribed? Not that there's an error in the system and his contact info got screwed up? Not countless other scenarios; it must be a lie?
A crime punishable by death.

The mystery of why this guy started this thread is far more interesting than the topic.

You can't just google "Is random dude faking being a season ticket holder and starting thread for attention or does he have a bad email address, horrible ex-wife or a spam folder of gold" for a legit answer.

For me, the fact he used the term "what not" made it worth the read. The rest of this labryinth of speculation is just gravy.

It's not ALL about lying, but there's a lot more than I ever intended when I invented it.

You’re right it’s not all about lying, that’s just hyperbole. Clearly I’m meaning to say that there’s a lot of lying that goes on.

Look, if you’re a season ticket holder you received an email.

If for some reason didn’t get an email, then you have grounds, right now, call them and say they they owe you at least two tickets at face value. But you know what? You won’t, because you’re not a season ticket holder.
He should have recieved an email. But mistakes happen with those mass emails from time to time. Maybe it went to spam. Regardless more importantly it just is what it is brother. It's a new day. Canes fans need to be on the same page & root this team on. We have plenty to be happy about as we will easily win the coastal at least this year. Let's all learn to put a positive front out there & see how it goes. (Anyone that knows me knows obviously I gotta work on this too)

Any of these scenarios could be true. At the same time, based on the number of actual human beings who have told me similar stories (not just anonymous names on the internet), Occam's Razor would suggest a single, simpler explanation.

Based on what I know about requesting e-mail addresses and mass mailers from working with the Alumni Association, as well as the format of the letter itself, it is clear that the Athletic Department sent out e-mails to 2019 season ticket holders (even though many people had not yet renewed season tickets) and 2019 Hurricane Club contributors (even though the year was only a month old). The Athletic Department should have pulled 2018 information and then told any season-ticket-holders or HC members who had not yet paid that they were in Tier 4.

Instead, people who had not yet renewed season tickets or made 2019 HC contributions got no e-mail.

In my own situation, I had not yet made my HC contribution (though I do so every year), but I chose to renew my season tickets with the 12 month payment plan, thus I got the e-mail. And after the first e-mail, I made my HC contribution.

But to call a guy a liar over saying he didn't get the e-mails is just ridiculous.

It would not surprise me.

Two years ago UM failed to provide me my parking pass after I renewed and specifically had selected a green lot parking pass. Somehow, the charge on my credit card for the season tickets went through but the parking pass charge didn't (probably because they ran it separately like buffoons and/or never ran it). I didn't notice the lack of a charge until my season tickets came without the parking pass and my friends all had theirs. When I called, the ticket office confirmed: (1) that I had selected a parking pass; (2) that my parking pass charge was not processed; and (3) that somebody should have contacted me about it. Ended up carpooling or catching an Uber to the stadium all of 2017 because they'd sold out the green lot by then.

The incompetence of UM's sales department (and especially the website) is not to be underestimated. Remember, Flake Shames came up at UM through ticket sales.

That's the point. If only a tiny morsel of imagination can conjure perfectly plausible and reasonable alternatives and said person has no known history of falsehoods, what's the benefit of jumping to that conclusion and responding that way? Especially since Occam's Razor is subjective here, as it's being applied to an unknown entity. It's just unnecessary aggression for the sake of posturing, it seems.

Definitely call the ticket office. Folks like myself who have already maxed out their allotment , will not be given an opportunity to purchased the returned tickets [per the young lady at UM ticket office]. She did say that if someone did not max out their allotment or simply did not purchase, will get an opportunity to. So.....call them ASAP!
