Miami is tied for 2nd of all P5 teams for fewest portal defections since October 1, 2020.

The average P5 team has seen 12 kids enter the portal. Miami has only had 5. The only school lower is Stanford….and, no ****. Who is leaving Stanford? Only 1 kid.

So why is this? Do the kids know something we don’t? Culture? Living elsewhere doesn’t sound as appealing as living in Miami? The whole team sucks so the younger backups don’t feel blocked from playing time? Whatever the reason, this seems to be a good problem to not have.

I'm going with culture. Our whole basketball team transferred so it's not just about the city/school.

Everyone returned last year for the first time in forever. King (and Perry) seem to be real good teammates/leaders and Manny is a player's coach.

We def will, but the catch is so will other schools. There is typically another "wave" once starters etc. are being named. I think the bigger/better stat would be "impact" transfers. If Hillery leaves, where is he going to go? Some small *** school, do nothing, then get a regular job. The transfer portal hurts much worse for a guy like Stevenson, projected starter, future NFL draft pick, as oppose to a N'Kosi perry, great cane, but was passed up on the depth chart and was not going to snifff the field absent some crazy injuries.
