The momentum continues to build for Miami on the recruiting trail.

The Hurricanes received a major boost on Wednesday when 247Sports recruiting reporter Zach Blostein logged a Crystal Ball prediction for 2028 five-star EDGE Asher Ghioto, giving Miami a 100% Crystal Ball percentage with a confidence level of 6 (Medium).

Ghioto, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive end from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, is considered one of the premier prospects in the entire 2028 recruiting class. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, he is rated as the No. 3 overall player in the nation, the No. 1 EDGE, and the No. 3 player in Florida, making him one of the most talented recruits in the country.

Landing a player of Ghioto’s caliber would be another statement victory for Mario Cristobal and Miami’s recruiting staff. The Hurricanes have made recruiting elite defensive linemen a priority, and adding the nation’s top edge rusher would continue that trend while strengthening an already impressive 2028 class.



If Miami can eventually secure Ghioto’s commitment, it would give the Hurricanes one of the biggest recruiting wins of the 2028 cycle and continue the program’s push to stack elite talent in the trenches under Cristobal. Miami is the team to beat right now.

They’re just doing their jobs man. They look like they’re in high school. Take it up with the owners/maudes, who are also here on the board, who are clearly the ones directing them on how to do said job

Trust me I’ve gone to the maudes but their hands are tied by the owner. They’ve received a lot of complaints. And I can’t block them either otherwise this would have been done a long time ago.

 

When are people gonna realize recruiting has changed? The days of kids from Jax being a shoe in at UF or certain schools is just not the case anymore. The edge to me is more important than the running back although I’d move to have both. Maybe the kid doesn’t wanna go to ND and follow his dad. We have seen kids leave south Florida like Matthews when it makes no sense. This staff is elite Miami has had on field success and outside of hard rock the program has done everything they can to make the facilities and other aspects elite. Miami is a player

Recruiting is wide open pretty much everywhere.

There's only a handful of places where it's still virtually impossible to snatch a high caliber prospect from the prohibited favorite local program:

- Oklahoma City
- Baton Rouge
- Lakeland

But just about everywhere else is more than possible.
