Miami Starters High School Star Rankings

Gotcha. I said **** it and took Richard out and put Brown in at this point close enough

Was rewatching the game speaking of Brown and he was off to a good start. Had some good run support too
Yea it ain’t no big deal I get what you was trying to do. And he was playing well. Hopefully he will be back in a couple weeks and build on it

In terms of Composite Team Rating for the entire roster,
FSU is like #11, UF #12, and we are #13 in the country (or thereabouts, I know we're all in a row and we're last according to that)
Tell me does that metric matter when you have by far the best QB? Nope.
Secondly we don't JUST have the best QB. Clearly our talent is above their ratings.

This is why I've been saying it isn't JUST about average rating. Especially if you're getting the TOP portal guys too. The portal ratings have been dog **** imo. I'll say the ratings out of HS are decent enough for as difficult it is to project. But getting a bunch of 3 stars itself isn't a problem. What type of 3 stars are they? Do they have the athleticism/size and just need the development? etc. Are we getting all high character guys? All that stuff matters.

Yeah there’s a ton of nuance to all of it

Like I was saying presenting it, it’s just to look at. Not saying it’s good, bad, or indifferent. You see a lot of guys on this squad that have gone through some **** to get to this point

And agreed about the portal rankings. They’re still showing a ton of bias to the high school rankings because it’s seems the services don’t want to admit huge mistakes

20 of our sh*t 3 stars transferred away from us in the 2024 portal.. the success rate of 3 stars hasn't changed. We just replaced unsuccessful ones with successful ones.
Excellent point. Also speaks to the problem of portal star rankings. They’re a complete joke. Cam was the #4 ranked quarterback behind Julian Sayin, Aiden Chiles and Dante Moore. And Cormani was ahead of every portal player besides Cam. Think about that. He was ahead of Martinez, Baron, barrow, Alston, etc.

Yeah stars and rankings certainly matter but you can see how biased they can be

They sort of cement a certain group of players when they’re sophomores in high school and they stay there for the most part

And now we are seeing the reluctance to re-rank them after they struggle in college

I mean I get it…at this point that’s a lot to keep track of

Mario recruits will start to get bumps. It just takes time for the recruiting sites to see Miami kids performing above their ranking across the board. I’d expect most of our kids to jump by 1 point or more by NSD assuming they perform well during their senior year AND sign with Miami. Rankings don’t want to be wrong so they will adjust.

Throw the star system out most of the time and watch who recruits you. If Kirby Saban and those types are making you a priority then pay attention. Also I would say Mario is already on the list of if he offers you are probably a dog and have potential. Wont always hit but you pay attention to those Head Coaches and a few more like Freeze etc.
I’m old enough to remember when Saban took a helicopter to visit Gurvan Hall. Good times.

This!
What I would like to see is an evaluation rating that averages your top 5 offers in terms of that years ranking. If a 3 star has all top 5 teams offering, you know he’s probably underrated.

Thought this would be fun. For informational purposes only (I’m a Star ***** personally). Lemme know if there are any errors

OFFENSE

Cam Ward
: Not Ranked. We know the story here

Damien Martinez: 3 Star #35 RB

Xavier Restrepo: 3 Star #65 ATH (#105 in Florida)
Sam Brown: 4 Star #50 WR
Jacolby George: 3 Star #61 WR

Elijah Arroyo: 4 Star #4 TE

Jalen Rivers: 4 Star #17 OT
Ryan Rodriguez: 3 Star #27 IOL
Zach Carpenter: 3 Star #37 OG
Anez Cooper: 3 Star #154 OT (#65 in Alabama)
Francis Mauigoa: elite elite elite

DEFENSE

Tyler Baron
: 4 Star #71 OVR
Simeon Barrow: 3 Star #68 DL
Ahkeem Mesidor: 3 Star #69 SDE
Rueben Bain: 4 Star #71 OVR (same as Baron)

Wes Bissainthe: 4 Star #206 OVR
Francisco Mauigoa: 3 Star #153 LB 🤣🤣🤣

OJ Frederique: 3 Star #66 CB
Jaden Harris: 3 Star #38 CB
Meesh Powell: 3 Star #191 CB 🤣
Daryl Porter Jr: 3 Star #89 CB
Damari Brown: 4 Star #173 OVR

My brother, what u provided were the 247 rankings, & not the 247 composite rankings.

Here’s the updated list:
QB - Cam Ward: 0* N/A
RB - Damien Martinez: 3* #48 RB (#600 overall)
RB - Mark Fletcher: 4* #7 RB (#142 overall)
WR - Xavier Restrepo: 3* ATH #36 ATH (#636 overall)
WR - Sam Brown: 3* #77 WR (#448 overall)
WR - Jacolby George: 4* #29 WR (#175 overall)
WR - Isaiah Horton: 4* #56 WR (#372 overall)
TE - Cam McCormick: 3* #23 TE (#539 overall)
TE - Elijah Arroyo: 4* #6 TE (#201 overall)
OL - Jalen Rivers: 4* #12 OT (#128 overall)
OL - Ryan Rodriguez: 3* #26 IOL (#406 overall)
OL - Zach Carpenter: 3* #32 OG (#547 overall)
OL - Anez Cooper: 3* #109 OT (#1149 overall)
OL - Francis Mauigoa: 5* #2 OT (#10 overall)

DE - Ruben Bain: 4* #11 Edge (#63 overall)
DT - Ahkeem Messidor: 3* #28 (636 overall)
DT - Simeon Barrow: 3* #35 DE (#780 overall)
DE - Tyler Baron: 4* #4 DE (#118 overall)
LB - Francisco Mauigoa: 3* #142 LB (#1283 overall)
LB - Wes Bissainthe: 4* #18 LB (#188 overall)
CB - DPJ: 3* #102 CB (#1189 overall)
CB - Damari Brown: 4* #21 CB (#175 overall)
NB - OJF: 3* #67 CB (#779 overall)
SS - Mishael Powell 0* N/A
FS - Jaden Harris: 3* #51 CB (#541 overall)

Now, it’s worth noting:
Martinez, Ward, Powell, Francisco Mauigoa, Messidor, & Brown were all re-evaluated in college & bumped as 4* prospects in the transfer portal.

What this shows is that the HS rankings aren’t an exact science b/c exposure, late blooming, early blooming can all affect these rankings. The teams you play for in HS, the quality of offers u receive in HS all plays a role in these rankings. Once u get on campus, either u live up to high rankings, u were underrated, or u were overrated.

That’s why the new transfer ratings play a role now in the overall class rankings. And, quite frankly, there’s not enough man power in the industry to tediously rank 10’s upon 10’s of thousands of football players not only in the U.S, but now Canada.

Thank you for the correction. Seems like basically the same thing.

Like I was saying there’s no agenda on my end, just an interesting look at how this roster came about

Also there’s ZERO flex about the roster because we haven’t won a **** thing yet

Sometimes when we present star rankings people jump to the conclusion you’re advocating that stars matter or they don’t. Just interesting data here is all

They miss though but you still have to pay attention. They grab as much as they can and when they aren’t good in a cfb practise field, they transfer like Marvin jones.
