This place is funny. He was absolutely pencilled in on CIS as a key player returning... now it was largely expected.

And without the portal and NIL we would be stuck in the **** land of athletics. Get over the process and exploit it.

Go watch Pete on the pod this morning. He keeps it a buck and he said it wasn't unexpected, especially once Dante made the decision to come back.

I do not need to listen to Pete to appreciate the dynamic. Fans had him penciled in. Coaches have different information. Pete commenting after the fact does nothing for me. As always, it depends on what the final roster looks like to understand the impact.

Is the inference that Dante would have headed for the Portal had he not moved into the starting lineup as a true frosh? And if he had to share major minutes in 2026-27 with Tru?

Didn't realize Dante had any decision to make as far as staying at UM for his Soph year.

Who had him penciled in? Just provide a few screenshots.

The mysterious mid-season suspension was reason enough for anyone with a brain to assume he could (MIGHT) leave in the off-season.

I like the kid and I hoped he would return, but we can find a replacement.

I think Dante has a high ceiling and think Lucas feels the same.

I thought his 24 minutes a game was very generous for a true freshman and showed he is on the developmental fast-track.

He was a good assist man and strong defensively for a first year guy, but ... I don't think 6.6 ppg, 32% three point shooting, and making only 58% on free throws warranted any more PT.
 
Personally, I would have liked to have seen a 3 guard offense next season with Allen, Tru, and a new point guard. The perimeter defense with Allen and Tru would have been excellent. And they both rebound well for guards.

My main point being I don’t think it had to be Allen or Tru, but rather Allen and Tru in the starting lineup.

So was Gaskins your 5 in that scenario? We'd be tiny.

good point. Because Henderson gets moved to the 4 in my scenario and then we need a true 5. Honestly I was thinking that Gaskins comes off the bench to start the season unless he is better than expected.

Gaskins will probably have a very similar impact as Sheldon had this season. Id suspect he starts.
