Miami is set to add local coach David Cooney to their football support staff, as he will join the program as an Offensive Quality Control Analyst.

Cooney was previously the offensive coordinator for the 2016 8A state champion Southridge Spartans and was at Coral Gables high school prior to that. Cooney has also made is mark in south Florida football over the past few years as one of the architects of the Florida Fire 7-on-7, whose team produces multiple top-level recruits each year.

The hire is expected to be made official and announced this week.

Now that you've said this can you name a list of guys that he should have an impact on in this and next class?

Will he no longer be allowed to run the 7 on 7?

when is the first domino to fall?

No doubt getting a 7v7/AAU type guy is important. Hopefully we'll reap the rewards.

A start would be all the Southridge guys we want.

We'll see his value immediately. If he gets us a couple 2017 guys then it's a good hire. If he doesn't, then I question his juice.

Can you outline what kind of impact this hire has on the program?
