Miami safety Zaquan Patterson Plans To Enter Transfer Portal

Our HC evals are off.
Amazing to me how bama and uga and osu have like over an 80 percent blue chip ratio.
However, they don’t have 80 percent of their teams as all Americans or draft picks.

Plenty of blue chip and 4 star talents have gone to those schools and never did anything. Plenty of blue chippers have transferred out of bama in the past.

Not everyone can adapt and even fewer are gonna adapt when you give them money.

Is what it is. Go get a proven/productive safety out of the portal and let’s ride. Experienced players are key this year, not wait and see mode with younger guys.

We need to continue the momentum from last year for future success in recruiting, etc. Lay a dud this year and we are back to square 1 and a never ending pitiful cycle of mediocrity

Kids need to toughen up. Just because we got someone out of the portal doesn’t mean that the kid won’t see the field, and his opportunity is up. These kids want instant gratification. The reality is that if we had any depth whatsoever, he wouldn’t have seen the field last year but for mop up duty. We need to get stacked so incoming freshmen realize if they get solid minutes as a freshman, it’s a rarity and means that they are that good. This probably felt like a demotion to him and is why he jumped into the portal. A lot of hard work for nothing.

This is why u have to stack at every position yearly so it doesn’t matter
We have to start taking every position personal every year

Facts. Anyone who has followed this for a while knows even the best of the best evaluators and developers get it right half the time. The only solution to winning every year is to always be stacking chips.

Tough loss but all the movement by Miami last portal cycle with the db room put the writing on the wall. I would expect more from the db room to move

This sucks but I'm not surprised. I'm not an insider but he was given every opportunity to play last year and when he did get in, he just didn't look great . You all saw the trash we had at safety last year. Zaquan had his chance to entrench himself as a starter and he didn't seize that opportunity with one of the worst years of safety play we've ever had. Not much else needs to be said.

Now a days it's going to be very rare to get high 4* and 5* kids sitting on the bench for 2 or 3 years to develop before they start. They cost too much.

Different rumors out there…some say he was always missing/late for practice and meetings. Others say there is a girl involved. Maybe both.

I don’t see this as a big loss. He showed nothing during his first year that indicated potential to be a star, let alone a starter. He was completely lost out there.

Wake me up when he starts to ball out at another P5 school and then maybe we can mourn his departure. For now, good luck kid!

Really sucks, this is happening every year all our good recruiting classes are gone in two years. Why spend all this money on recruits.
You have to understand, that what you pay for isn’t always what you get in return. Paterson had maturity issues that greatly affected his ability to do all the little things it takes to prepare yourself to be able to contribute on the field. Fact of the matter is this, Dylan day has been playing far better than him throughout spring and a lot of it has to do with Paterson‘s maturity and work ethic issues.

Let’s just say he was late or missing meetings among things
100%, that’s why I said Paterson had a lot of maturity issues and those issues affected everything behind the scenes. It takes to be great on the field. A lot of fans have to understand, even if you’re talented, the ones that rise to the top are the ones that put in the work on all the little things behind the scenes before they even step on the field. And that is something Paterson was not doing from day one.

Funny how every kid we lose has character concerns.
You think it’s just us? I’m gonna break the surprise for you, it’s happening all over the country at every big program. Character issues are the number one reason for failure for kids that have top-notch talent. Because those issues are what is keeping them from putting in the work behind the scenes on all the little things. You can’t survive at a top-notch D1 program, unless you are all in. And Paterson wasn’t from the beginning, along with many other kids across the country.

Miami Hurricanes freshman safety Zaquan Patterson has announced that he plans to enter the transfer portal, he told On3.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound player has three years of eligibility left at his next destination.

Coming out of high school at Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Zaquan was ranked as a four-star prospect, and ranked as the No. 63 player nationwide.

Zaquan played in every game, finishing with 19 tackles and three pass breakups. We will wish the best for the former four-star recruit to wherever he lands at.

They said Horton is in the portal as well.

Bummer. If “talk “ of missing late for meetings is true, probably a bad cultural fit. Good luck.

Go Canes!

What does Bama and GA have anything to do with our talent evals?

What does Bama and GA have anything to do with our talent evals?
That they are not better it than we are and miss on way more than we do.
They just hoard a bunch of talent and eventually several hit and the rest are forgotten.
This makes it seem like they are better at it when in essence they just increase their chances of landing a first rounder from the sheer number of elite recruits they get.

Anyone can seem like an evaluation and development expert when your team’s blue chip ratio is 90 percent.
That was Ohio states blue chipp ratio in 2024. So in essence most of their 2nd and 3rd stringers had a higher rating out of high school than most p4 teams starters.
