Miami prediction - Josh Pate

The starting talent is not even comparable to anything the last 15 years. Only last year on O is comparable. Right now our 2nd string should beat any other team in the ACC outside of Clemson. That **** sure hasn't been the case ever, in our ACC membership. Our QB for the 2nd straight year, is light years better than anyone we have had in the 2000's. Again, all ACC schools beside Miami and Clemson were plucked apart by transfer outs that won't stop. We have 8 home games. We play in state the 1st 8 games. This is not the same program of the last 20 years. Their is no excuse that can be made for losing to inferior talent right now, except coaching. Everyone expects the same old because 1, they haven't done a deep dive on our roster the last 18 years and they don't believe in Mario. Mario didn't need to say, look at the draft in 22. I have looked at our terrible drafts for 17 years to know we never had the talent our fanbase proclaimed. We have had 7 #1's and 5 #2's in 17 years, thank you portal. I personally believe this team should go undefeated in the regular season outside of a Beck injury. Should! We have to see it, but I believe this D staff is killing it. Heatherman is what Mario has been missing. Even though this is all true, I am still scared proclaiming all of this, coaching, coaching, coaching! Did I mention, coaching?
What is this based on? Recruiting rankings?

25 Oct v Stanford and 8 Nov v Syracuse (who just scored another TD) are potential games where if Miami can take control early, they can try and manage the roster and give more rest to key players.
stanford we can. idk about cuse. that'll be a fight imo

The most likely scenarios are:

1) 9-3;
2) 8-4 or 10-2;
4) 11-1;
5) 7-5.

I see over 10 wins and under 8 wins as very unlikely scenarios.
Maddeningly, our Canes are at the crossroads for another season start. For the last 25 years they've taken the road to suckville.

IF they take that path AGAIN (I mean why not!?)...7-5

IF Mario & Co somehow figure out to break tbe viscious cycle of catastrophic atmospherics...12-0 (I'm so going to regret this)

My head says 7-5 because Miami gonna Miami...

My heart says, god ****'t enough! 12-0 is very achievable and realistic.

My model gave me the following result:

Best: 11-1
Most Likely: 10-2
Worst: 9-3

If the receivers can be capable, the team should exceed initial expectations.

The only people hoping are emotional baby back itches who don’t know football. We have a team that will win the ACC and be in the playoffs. Book it!
Love the enthusiasm!!!

Let's revisit by game #5. I believe by that point you'll be rightfully spiking the football on porsters or getting pantsed amigo.

The past means nothing, anyone who makes predictions based on the past has no ability to evaluate this team. This team is a new team and I wish people would finally let go of the past and just evaluate this team for what they are, which is a very talented team. Will they do it this year, no one knows until they do but trying to say they won’t do it because a team in 2008 didn’t do it makes no sense.
Yes and no. Pressure is real - even though you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there. The identity of the Miami football program is that we either massively underachieve, or if we’re rolling, we known for late season fallouts. Until this doesn’t happen, the 2025 team and the next and then next, will absolutely feel the pressure of overcoming this and getting over the hump to win the 1st ACC championship in Program History.

Anyone that’s played sports competitively at the high school level and above, ESPECIALLY football, knows that this is real because when off the field, that’s the only thing that’s being talked about by fans, peers, family etc etc.

I did play at the college level and I can tell you without a doubt, the players are not thinking about this at all. If this team executes what their talent level will allow them to do, none of those things will happen.

Be careful with **** like this. I don’t really agree but that’s not the point, when you say stuff like this to people who have zero ability to think critically, you have an insurrection on your hands if we lose one game or **** even struggle to win.

Winning games is VERY hard. Taint lost, at home, as a 21 point favorite to Michigan. Who sucked. **** happens in football. So we’re not likely to win every game but I do agree somewhat with the talent discussion. Time to win.
If you were a 90% favorite in every single game (which we are rarely that big a favorite) you'd only be 28% likely to go 12-0. Winning them all isn't easy

Bingo. Exactly zero 18-21 year olds are sitting with each other and saying man I hope we don't collapse like last years teams. Don't you remember being immortal and invincible?

Understandable

I believe we'll split ND and Florida but then lose two garbage games at end of year and finish 9-3

hope I'm wrong but those 7 straight games at the end are what nightmares are made of if history tells us anything
👆And that would be maddeningly on-brand for Miami.

But don't worry, the lost critical capabilities and all new roster won't be affelcted one iota with how past performance as an organization has unfolded.
