miami picked to finish third in the conference

Miami plays the #1, #5, #6, #9, #10, #11, #12, and #15 teams on this poll. #’s 1, and 6 are at home. So we play 1 road game against a top 8 team in the league.

FSU plays #2, #3, #7, #8, #9, #10, #11 and #15.

They’re not winning this league. The good guys are.

In all fairness tho, it would be like closing out the night with the least attractive girl out of the group. But hey, a nut is a nut.

Fair overall.

We absolutely should not lose to Cal, Duke, Cuse or Wake. Don’t care when the games are played, what spot it is…we should be a double-digit fave against all four of them.

GT is a wildcard here. Their record won’t be great because their schedule is absurdly difficult (easily top 10 nationally), but they are more than capable of springing an upset or two this year. Could be Week 0…

Vatech will be a decent club, too...

Same class of people who’s picked Miami to win the ACC god knows how many times over the last two decades is suddenly biased?

There are two factors that influenced this: 1) the disparity in provenness between Dabo, Norvell, and then Mario, and 2) the skin-deep appreciation for how talented the roster actually is. Agree with OBM, the schedules are markedly different between Miami and FSU.

And that will probably be the difference.
Meanwhile, Mario has more power conference ships than Mike.

Defense beat Clemson, not Emory
Yes and No.

Emory had little to do with most of the points we scored that day but TVD was going through a cycle of throwing multiple INTs/game.

Emory had one harmless pic at the end of the 1st half which was basically a punt to the Clemson 10 from midfield and the half ended 2 plays later. He was the best QB to start that day, giving us the best chance to win.

Wild thing is we are picked to finish 3rd for one reason, Mario Cristobal. He also happens to be the architect of this roster which is easily top 10 in CFB.
There is so much on the line for Mario. He can legitimize himself as a top coach, dispel the QB negativity, put the U back in the map and put us in better position for a conference upgrade.
Just a little bit of pressure on him.

Ironically he has gotten two coach of the year honors when in Sun Belt with FIU and PAC 10 with Oregon. I think that legitimizes him, especially at FIU with a team he had to build from the ground up. He is on the verge of doing the same here.

In my opinion, what he did at FIU is one of the best coaching jobs we’ve seen in the last 30 years.

They had no facilities, hand me down equipment, and the entire program had one win when he took over… the others being NCAA’d out of the record books.

Ridiculous to see this narrative being so casually flung around.

He got a very predictable one of these:

Get him, @grover! Vomit all over him!

Ibis too! 🤮

Dammit man, you made me look at Angry Ibis' post. I have him and Cway on ignore until after the UF game. Just helps me manage my high blood pressure. But you had to reply to him and mention me, so of course I opened his post, and he's still at it.

To be fair, this thread (picked to be 3rd in conference) makes sense to call out Mario for those who don't agree with his coaching ability. When you have the preseason POTY in Ward and another handful of preseason first team all ACC along with another handful who arguably could have made that list, then yeah, your team should be predicted to be 1st in the conference, at least second ahead of a team you beat last year. Which means there are a lot of doubters as to whether this coaching staff can fully exploit the talent they've accumulated.

I hope Mario (and Dawson and Guidry) proves the doubters wrong.
