Blake Sims was a 4* QB
Cooper Bateman (the guy Jake Coker beat out) was a high 4* kid
Blake Barnett was a high 4* kid
David Cornwell was a high 4* kid
Alec Morris was a 3* kid

Just goes to show that you need to recruit high end prospects every year. Some don't work out. Some get beat out. But Bama had a load of "elite" QBs in that 2014-2015 range.

Even though most of them transferred out, some(most?) are starting at other schools.

mid-week visit vs weekend visit is irrelevant during the summer. Unless you can explain how it somehow makes a difference

We asked for that visit BECAUSE he had the other two set up. Originally he was told the OV would be in season. It was said that CMR and staff felt they needed to do it now since he mentioned maybe making a decision by the end of July

That's 5 terrible college QBs.

Shows you why QB recruiting is more of a crapshoot than anything. Outside of a few truly elite guys like Watson, and Fields, there are somany busts at the 4* and 5* level.

You need to evaluate well, no other position is quite like it. With RBs/WRs, you can just recruit stars and be fine. At QB it doesnt usually work like that

Seems like having to ask him to OV is the bigger problem than it being mid-week.

The only solution is fire dad. It’s a package deal. Get the fūck over it.

It’s like you minimum wage morons have never heard of people employing relatives. It actually happens all the time.

Usually the people that scream the loudest are jealous, petty unsuccessful losers.

Since you’re on your high horse looking down at other cane fans who bring up a legitimate point.

I’ll say this Jr is not the most qualified person to hold the position he has at Miami, this cannot be denied.

And if the above statement is true and he doesn’t give us the best chance to win.....Isn’t that what Miami is about?

We all know Mark won’t fire his son. But if that’s what it takes to win and he’s not willing to do it. Then he shouldn’t be the head coach at the University of Miami.

That's why you recruit the kid who gave you the indication he wanted to be here from the jump. Now it's going to be hard to get him from clem**** university.
So you recruit a guy you didn't really want just because fans think he would have committed right away? Sounds like a plan.

You guys crying forget that MJ is a project and won't be succeeding as a P5 QB right away anywhere. You also forget that it's only ******* July. There are a zillion QBs still out there including guys committed elsewhere like Williams was last year.

Yet, Alabama won three national titles. McCarron was a 4* prototype kid, Blake Sims was a 4* dual threat type kid and beat out a ton of these highly rated players, Jake Coker was a 3* statue transfer and beat out a bunch of these highly rated players, and then you have Jalen Hurts a low end dual threat 4* player who got them there and Tua, a #1 QB in the nation type sealing the deal.

There isn't much of a through line there, and if you look at QBs that have won national championships in recent vintage, there isn't much of a trend.
Just need to get the right guy for your team and recruit the position every single year, knowing there will be plenty of attrition you'll have to live with.

Fawning over mjj like what Miami has done with so many visits without reciprocity could have a detrimental affect on his recruiting..no different than overpersuing a woman when she does not have the same feeling for you(from personal experience). Now he is saying it might be after the season. Electricity is developing with other suitors. Stevenson is making multiple 700 mile trips on his own dime is an example. Jacob Eason made multiple visits from Washington State to Athens and showed reciprocity.

I agree on him being a project and needing work. The selling point for fsu is their wide open style that allows for him to use his legs more. We are more of a prototype pocket passing team.

Williams was getting recruited by elite programs already including bama, Auburn and osu before the Miami contact late . He absolutely won that recruitment, **** Williams even went on an official with Ohio state and still chose Miami shortly after

He didn’t win that battle. Miami won that battle with game day and running roughshod on Notre Dame.

Lil Richt is ***

Pretty amazing how much people are freaking out over this. There really is no reason to worry. Plenty of time to find a QB for this class. Also, any of you who think it’s only up to Richt JR on the QB board must have really low IQ. The QB we go after is directly tied to Mark Richt.
