In just a week's time, the Miami Hurricanes will host their first official visit weekend of this cycle, kicking off a month-long period where the Canes will make their move with some of the nation's top prospects.

Miami will start OV season with a bang, hosting four five-star prospects in Coral Gables.

Five-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant will make the trip from South Carolina, an LSU commit who the Hurricanes are pushing hard for alongside other top 2027 edge prospects.

Coming off an official LSU visit, linebacker target Kaden Henderson will be in attendance. Once again Miami is competing against Texas A&M this cycle for a top target.



The other pair of five-stars come in the form of Miami commitments in DB Donte Wright and WR Nick Lennear. Wright, who flipped from Georgia earlier this month, has verbally shut down his recruitment while Lennear is speculated to take other OV’s this summer.

Recent four-star Hurricane commits DB Ai’King Hall, LB AJ Randle and DL Ezekiel Ayangbile, will also make the trip from Alabama, North Carolina and Texas respectively.

Ayangbile’s commitment marked Mario’s first pledge from Texas during his tenure at UM so far.

Following his recent decommitment from USC, California native Eli Woodard will make the cross-country trip to the U. Despite a flood of “crystal balls” for the Canes, his recruitment still maintains other suitors such as the local UCLA and Cal.



Coach Hetherman is wasting no time to find his linebacker pairing with Randle, bringing in Jaylathan Mayfield and Noah Glover with the aforementioned Henderson.

On the defensive line, Miami brings in Demarco Jenkins and Marquis Evans. Another target from Alabama, Evans continues to pose as a real target for the Canes.

Now local safety Loia Valade will make his second visit with UM. Valade transferred to West Boca ahead of his senior season from Tennessee and originally Canada.

Miami will host the St. Thomas Aquinas pairing of wideout Julius Jones Jr. and defensive back Jaden Carey. All intel indicates Jones is trending to Notre Dame with a commitment announcement expected next month.

Rounding out the opening weekend of visitors is the lone offensive lineman in attendance, four-star IOL commit Sean Tatum.

A "bunch" would probably be pushing at this point…

I mean sure there could be one here and there, and definitely don't think there will be zero. But we have a lot of whales committed already and are after many names that people know of.

Loaded. Landing an elite DL is the priority now. Without one, I’d grade this class as an A-/B+. Add an elite DE, and it’s solidly in the A range.

They are different enough physically and stylistically that you could theoretically take both with no overlap. Not sure on the numbers Miami is looking for at the position with a big class last year.

 

You know coaches will be “checking in” on their commits this week trying to defer any MIA visits.. Mario usually good for a secret visitor or two..

Mayfield and Glover, as D$ said today, have tapes that are like mirror images of each other.

Henderson is a five star however he’s not a potential green dot mike; although Hetherman has told glover and mayfield both he would occasionally use them as rushers at the will spot; they are green dot middle/inside linebackers.

Or in other words, mayfield and Glover pre-snap lines up parallel to the center and guard while Henderson is used primarily as a pass rusher & OLB in his highlights.

Given how heavily they’re both being recruited, I’d imagine the plan is to fight like **** to get one of them and be happy with that. Don’t believe Henderson will have any affect whatsoever….They are also recruiting as if they are not expecting Henderson in the class.

Then, the same dynamic with one of the jumbo back-7 hybrid OLBs in Drew Williams (June 5th) or Aston Whiteside (June 12th).

Kaden Henderson is a bonus, if he wants in at a solid asking $, you take a fourth LB.

I haven’t seen Kaston Lewis, Darrian Tomlin or Jeremiah Proctor setup their official visit dates yet. If any of them do, I’d include them in that jumbo group.
