We didn’t really have any idea how our pass catchers were going to look before ND. ND also has a good secondary. There’s less room for error in a week 1 game with a new QB, new WRs against the 6th ranked team in the country. So I would’ve leaned on the strength of my team as well.If Dawson is willing to run into stacked boxes against ND over, over, and over again, what makes you think he won’t do it to a G5? He’s going to try to bully them with the 3 running plays we have.
Great insight. I'm sure Miami really gameplanned for Carr running and are just focused on Brown's down field and timing pass game.I wouldn’t bet that spread. Miami let Carr run on them game one. Brown might run all game and a few trick plays will get usf points. Miami would need to score 40pts plus to cover IMO cause I think UsF scores at least 21

You do know we have a different DC this year?Similar to how the team game planned for a one arm Haynes King last year or a short route Syracuse team.

I think there’s a drastic drop in talent from ND’s to USF’s secondary. If USF is stacking the box, we should be able to make plays to force them into moving options to the secondary. We’ve also seen Dawson for two seasons now. We run a pretty balanced offense. You referenced the ND game, 32 pass plays, 35 runs. That’s a fairly even split. I agree Mario has a tendency to play with his food, but I just don’t see them going three yards and a cloud of dust for four hours on Saturday.
I think Golesh wants as many possessions as possible. I think we still keep it balanced controlling the clock and slowing the tempo to keep their offense on the sidelines. Methodical drives that take time off the clock may cause them to take more chances on offense and lead to turnovers or 3 and outs.
There apparently is a big disparity in the size of our oline compared to their dline. I think that we should take advantage of that and lean on them to wear them down in the 2nd half.
